How tough is it to get an A-, A or A+ in a "weeder" class at Michigan (ie. Intro Gen. Chem, Intro Bio, INTRO ORGO, Intro Econ, Intro Calc. etc.)

I wanna be a physician and gain admission to a top 15 US Med School. I know Michigan has a great track record for sending their students to top med schools, but certainly there are many who fail. I don't know how I will face my parents if i mess up my prereqs and essentially waste their huge investment. I will probably leave Michigan after first year.

I don't think it's too hard to get an A in Gen Chem. I did horribly in AP Chem during high school (never even done lab during high school), but I managed to get an A in Gen Chem.
I don't know about Calc 1, but Calc 2 is a true weeder class. But still, everyone does horribly so the curve is really lenient. I got a B+ (screwed the final;;; )
I didn't do orgo, but I know it's a pain.
I didn't do Econ 101, but I did Econ 102, and that wasn't that bad either; didn't listen to most of the lectures (slept :P), studied with the book only and got A-
Hope that helps.

With that lack of confidence you're setting yourself up to fail.
