Weekends at UCI

Hey everyone:

What do you do on weekends at UCI during the quarter? How often do you go home, if you live on campus?

I am just wondering since a lot of people consider UCI to be a college where there is little to do on weekends, what do most actually do?

i’m a commuter, so i’m not really sure, but i’m taking a friend home every friday…

I am going to commute from Irvine to LA every weekends too.

I’m from NorCal, so I stay here on campus except during breaks. UTC and the ARC do things during the weekend, like the Farmer’s Market and several sports activities. When I lived in the dorms, the RAs sometimes plan events during the weekends to ease the boredom of people staying there.

@ the OP

what do you consider fun? If you’re interested in anything in particular, someone can probably make more specific recommendations…
the main thing is Irvine is pretty spaced out, so a car is incredibly helpful in getting around.

Is there anything to do on campus though?

on campus not sure, but you can take the shuttle to the spectrum and stuff :] on campus, probably UTC and ARC… that’s all i can think of.

Chill with dormmates?

That’s what I’ve been doing! :)

The campus is pretty dead on weekends. It’s a largely academic campus, most people don’t find the point in staying and partying. Some may find it boring, but I find it peaceful. There isn’t the chaotic rush to get a nice meal in the commons, and it’s nice and peaceful, not many party-goers.

On campus, there isn’t usually a designated event every weekend, but college is what you make of it, you have to look for events. Just today there was a Ubisoft video game launch party, you can always go across the street to University town center, I always enjoy going to the Brandywine student center to play Wii or ping pong, the ARC is a fantastic place to get a nice workout, and the spectrum is only a shuttle ride away.
