How often are cadets allowed to leave campus, and can they have visitors at any given time?

Also, can cadets have cell phones at WP?

Plebes have no life, therefore cannot leave the Post. Correct me if I'm wrong, but they may have cell phones, but because all of the buildings are castle fortress like, the reception is spotty unless you're outside and then it's iffy, depending on your provider. As for visitors, yes, they may have them, but they will be very busy and will not be able to see anyone until their duties are completed and sometimes it's just not worth it, except for certain weekends. When visiting our cadet, we knew to be flexible with our schedule since he wasn't with his. This also ties into another question that is usually asked, what about eating out? No, Plebes cannot go into Highland Falls, but can order takeout and have it delivered. Schades is the favorite restaurant and has a good account setup for cadets who so choose.

Cadets have a 5 mile walking privilege; however the only thing in those 5 miles is the town of New Haven. Plebes get one furlough a semester. The good news is you can earn more.

Play a sport and see the world. My son, also a plebe, hardly spent any weekends at West Point because he played a club sport that traveled to the various universities in the New England area. Those weekends he didn't a game he frequently had leave because of spirit passes, etc.

So, there are ways off post and it's worth looking into.
