Weight lifting

ive been weight lifting for a year, but its not organized by the school or anything. i put between 3 and 6 hours into it each week (1-2 hour sessions M W F). Does that count as an EC?

anyone at allllllllllll

"Extracurricular activities are activities performed by students that fall outside the realm of the normal curriculum of school or university education"

Im applying to penn and i am putting it down. It definitely counts. Worst case is they don't consider it an appropriate EC but you wont get penalized.

Lifting weights on your own is a worthy activity, but it isn't really an EC. It's more of a physical fitness endeavor. Competing in weightlifting competitions, however, would be a nice EC. It's sort of the same distinction as jogging around on your own and competing as part of a cross country or track team, or playing your trumpet alone in your room vs. playing in the orchestra.
