At my school we do not have different scales for more rigorous classes. Ex. An "A" in a AP class is considered a 4.0, B a 3.0, etc. The only thing is we get extra points added to our grades (3 for honors, 5 for AP). Is the grade weighted or not?

Of course it’s weighted…

Well I was just wondering because the most common thing I see is the AP class is converted to a 5 point scale. And of course we do not get a weighted vs unweighted GPA on our transcripts.

So your system is on a 9.0 point scale, as apposed to an unweighted 4.0 scale, and AP/honors classes are weighted differently than standard classes. It’s not rocket science.

No, all of our classes regardless if AP or reg are on a 4.0 Scale. I meant we get 5 extra points added to our actual grade. If I made a 95 in an AP class, I would have a 100 with the extra points.

It’s weighted because you get a higher grade on an AP class with the same percentage.

It is probably considered weighted. To fin the unweighted grade you would take back the extra points given to you, and the resulting grades wiuld be your final grade.

Thank you semaphore12 and rob1995. I asked because weighted vs unweighted gpa isn’t really talked about at my school.

Yes it is considered weighted.
At my school CP classes are 4 points for an A, Honors are 5 and AP are 6.
