Hi everyone,
I was just wondering how weighted GPAs are calculated. My school doesnt have weighted grades.

I have a 3.86 unweighted, but the highest GPA at my school last year was 3.88. I've taken all the honors courses possible (9 APs by junior year and 14 by senior year) and I wanted to calculate my weighted GPA.

It depends on the school. My school now adds points to honors and AP classes. 5 for honors 10 for AP. So if you caluculated with your average after the points that will be weighted. Some just adjust you 4.0 scale GPA for class. So if you get an A in a AP class you get 6.0 for that class.

my school adds .5 to honors classes and 1 to AP classes, so an "A" in an honors class is computed in the weighted GPA as a 4.5 and an "A" in an AP class is computed in the WGPA as a 5.

i'm fairly sure that this is the most common method (not to belittle any other form of GPA calculations) for american schools operating on a 4.0 scale.
