So my school weighs AP's as 5's. My weighted it a 4.14 and UW is 3.96. On the Common App, for my W, would i put 4.14/4? or out of 5?

If it’s weighted it can’t be out of 4. I would put out of 5. The schools will rely on the info in the transcript anyway.

To avoid confusion, I would just list the UW as 3.96/4.

Agree with rmldad. UW would be much better in this situation.

Unless every single class that’s offered is offered in an AP version, such that a student could theoretically attain a 5.0 GPA, I believe the denominator would still be 4.0–in the same way you can get >100% on a test if you get the “extra credit.” So, I would think you’d report the weighted GPA out of 4, to show that you got extra credit for APs.

Most schools provide the information in the guidance counselor’s letter/form explaining how GPA is calculated and what weight is given to honors or AP classes. Schools all have their own way of weighting. That’s why you also provide a transcript, so they can see what grades you got in what courses.
