Weighted to unweighted

Hey, I have no idea where to put this..so I put it here.
I've been trying to convert my weighted GPA to unweighted and I just can't. If I have a 5.36 or a 5.4 to round nicely, what would that be unweighted?
Thanks to anyone who can help!!

Depends on your school.

How so? There's no way to just convert? I just wish my guidance counselor would tell me but he doesn't seem to know it, except for the weighted GPA.

Just give yourself 4 points per A, 3 per B, etc. and then divide by the number of courses. Don't bother trying to convert Weighted => Unweighted, it depends on each school's system.

For example, if you took 21 courses over the last 3 years, got 16 As, 4 Bs and a C, that's 16x4+4x3+2=78 points (I think... heh). Divide by 21 and you have an UW GPA of 3.714.

math - B+
french - A/A+
history - A-
latin - A+
english - A-/B+
chem - A
gym - A
band - A

those are my grades. would that come out to around a 3.8??

Every school is different, so we can't help you.

At my school (assuming those are year-long grades and those slashes are for borderline ones) you'd have an 3.75-3.875. Some colleges may take out the gym and band grades, though. Honestly, it depends.

Ok but around there ish. I just needed a way to ballpark it because I had no idea and everything. Thanks for all your help. I'm somewhat enlighted =)

if this is your scale A+-4.6 A- 4.3 A--4.0 B+-3.7 etc. your unweighted GPA (with french being A+ and english is an A-) your unweighted GPA should be a 4.225
