Weighted UC transferable class

Pls pardon my naivete
Last summer , My sophomore daughter took F requirement at community college .

According to UC

one college course earns one grade and one honors point in the GPA calculation, even though the single course may meet one year of a high school subject requirement.

Does that mean if she had taken AP art she would have got 2 honors points (since its 2 sem) but at community college it was 3 units so just 1 point?

She’s planning to take French from community college instead of AP French

For UC’s, yes. That’s what it means. Although not your question, it would count as 2 points for CSU’s

The CSUs grant two semesters of credit for CC classes though.

Yes, for UC, a 1 semester college course counts as 1 course with 1 grade (and 1 honors point) for the purpose of recalculating HS GPA for frosh admission.

For CSU, a 1 semester college course counts as 2 courses with 2 grades (and 2 honors points) for the purpose of recalculating HS GPA for frosh admission.

So it seems taking AP would have increased her weighted gpa than taking a community college class ?

If she took one semester of college course, she would have schedule space in the other semester to take another college course, so she could get two courses and grades that could count for honors points, the same as if she took a two semesters of AP course in high school.
