I am applying for college. My weighted GPA is 3.549 and my simple is 3.382. The application says it wants either the weighted or unweighted so I put in my weighted, which is on a 5.0 scale. The tool tells me that this translates to a 2.55 GPA on a 4.0 scale.
Does that even make any sense? If so, is there pretty much no point to putting in a weighted GPA?
No. Put 3.549. You don’t use 5.0 scale for your grades unless your school uses 5.0 scale for all grades. You count your grade as 5 on 4.0 scale if that grade is for an AP class and your school gives 5 points for an A. That’s why some people have weighted GPA > 4.0 on 4.0 scale.
Ask your counselor to be sure. It will hurt you badly if you put 2.55. Which tool do you use?
The one on the application. I obviously wouldn’t put 2.55. If anything, I would put 3.382.
