Weighted vs unweighted GPA for Northeastern

Which is more important for NEU, and for most schools in general? Also, how would I calculate my unweighted GPA because the school I go to does not even bother with calculating unweighted.

Northeastern recalculates a weighted GPA on their own standards.

do most schools do that?

@pikit1991 All schools do that. Different high schools weight GPA differently so colleges do it themselves so that every applicants GPA is weighted the same way.

College that consider weighted GPA usually recalculate based on their own weighting system, since high schools vary all over the place. If your high school gives +0.25 for an honors or AP course over a regular course, while some other high school gives +2 for an honors or AP course over a regular course, would you expect a comparison between those weighted GPAs to make sense?

So colleges focus more on the weighted GPA?

Colleges focus on their OWN weighted GPA, not the one your school uses.

They take your unweighted GPA and weigh it themselves.

Ahh Ok I get it now thank you

Do you know how Northeastern weights GPAs?

I believe it’s +0.5 for honors and +1.0 for AP/IB, but I can’t find the link for that right now.

oh okay so I think thats the same for my high school
