This seems like a very grey area for undergraduates. Which does Penn State look more closely at? Could anyone shed some light on a situation of their own or someone they know who had a low unweighted GPA but a high weighted GPA? Did they get accepted? Thanks ahead of time.

I am pretty sure that they look at the weighted GPA, although my school does not weigh, so they probably weighed mine, which was a 3.17 when I applied. I was actually pretty surprised that I got accepted into UP, thinking that my GPA was waayy too low, and I had only taken one AP. My high school is ranked number 4 or 5 in MA, and our curriculum is considered pretty tough, even though we only offer 5 AP courses total. The other classes I took were mostly the toughest, although they were not called honors or anything. My SATs were 700M, 670CR, and 700W but that doesn't count. I dont know if this helps at all, but I am almost positive that PSU wil weigh your GPA and consider that. Good luck.

I don't know about that, lulu. I heard from an admissions counselor (NOT officer) that PSU just looks at whichever GPA your school reports. He made it clear that PSU will not touch your GPA or change it to their own scale.

Ohh...I did not know that, which is good because I probably wouldn't have even bothered to apply with my GPA...Now I'm even more confused as to how I got in. It must have been the fact that I applied fairly early (Nov 12)??

It's because you Aced your SAT's Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh hhhhh hhhhhhh hhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!

That is Almost Ivy league SAT's.
