Weighted vs. Unweighted

help me out here people.
I thought I had a good idea on this but apparently not… lol.
See, my school only give out deciles and unweighted gpa.
The deciles just came out and I’m in the top 10%, and my unweighted gpa is 3.77 (out of 4.33).
The questions I have is… which one matters more to colleges, the unweighted gpa or the weighted ones?
Also, since my school doesn’t give out my weighted gpa (even though they use it to calculate your decile rank), does the colleges solely rely on my unweighted gpa? Or is it possible that my school don’t give out weighted gpa to students, but to colleges they actually have a number.
Well, if only unweighted gpa counts, then that seems a bit unfair since I’ve taken really hard classes since 9th grade.
OH yeah, lol, is there anyway I can calculate my weighted gpa?

They all recalculate your GPA using their own method.........I think most of the competitive ones weight, and take out everything that's not a core class.

k thx, any other comments, any1?

we have the opposite problem. At my D's prep. school they only give out a weighted GPA and do not rank. She has no clue as to where she stands. She has a GPA of 3.78 in core courses only and has taken mostly honors classes and two AP's. At her school, you are only allowed to take AP's by invitation...they will not allow a parent to "preference" you into a honors or AP class. Do you think the colleges know this about the school?
