***? weighted vs. unweighted

Colleges don't weigh your gpa!? omg please tell me they do...

Some re-weight your GPA using their own formula. Some don’t weight and will recalculate your GPA as an unweighted GPA if your school does not provide one. Some will use your high school’s reported unweighted GPA. Some will use your h.s.'s weighted GPA. I swear I saw one that said they would use whichever was higher. Some count only grades 9 to 11. Some also count the first semester of senior year. Some don’t count 9th grade. Some only count math, science, English, social studies and foreign language in their calculations.

ook thanks. ■■■.

High Schools in California will often have four GPAs for a student. Here is one I know about:

unweighted GPA 3.77
weighted GPA (weighting AP only, not Honors) 3.95
UC weighted, capped GPA 4.05 UC used 10,11th grades only, caps AP/Honors at 8 semesters. Selected Honors coursed getting +1 credit are published by UCOP
UC weighted, uncapped GPA 4.15

is that weighted gpa for including the 8 points?

the 4.05 is with 8 semesters of +1 (some AP, some UC approved +1 Honors Courses) UC Capped, Weighted GPA limits +1 to 8 semesters.

The 4.15 is with 10 semesters of +1 (uncapped).

what does it mean by uncapped
