I have a weird issue with my roommate- She uses too much toilet paper. We go through about a roll in a day or two. My old roommate and I use to go through a roll in about a 5 days. My current roommate doesn't use the restroom a lot, so I'm thinking she lines the seats with TP, which is completely unnecessary since I always leave the toilet seat cleans and we clean the seat weekly.
Should I bring it up, or should I just leave it a lone?

As an adult, you’re going to have to learn how to pick your battles. If you start a war over toilet paper, your roommate isn’t going to take it seriously when you actually do have a legitimate concern. Toilet paper is cheap; a healthy relationship with your roommate is priceless.

(Besides, you probably have nasty habits of your own. Are you sure you’re not leaving streaks on the toilet seat?)

This is seriously not something that needs to be brought up.
Toilet paper is dirt cheap (provided you’re buying off-brand, which you should be doing anyway).

For all you know, she could have ibs and whenever she goes it takes a lot to clean up after.
Or maybe she’s on her period when you notice this.
Or something else awkward like that.

I’m seconding Bedouin- this is not a legit concern at all.

Your roomie should be made aware that she is likely to clog up the plumbing if she overdoes it with the TP. Hopefully you won’t have to pay the cost of plumber service calls. Do you have a plunger handy? Cause at the rate she’s going she’s going to have to use one!

He means dirt cheap as in, “Buy it from the dollar store or from a retailer (in bulk”). He means, “Cheaper than the expense of turning your roommate into an enemy with your constant whining and passive-aggressive nitpicking of irrelevent nonsense”. Stick around for a while, read some roommate horror stories, and count your lucky stars that your roommate hasn’t vomited on your bed or locked you out of your room to have sex. Yet.

I am seconding the notion that toilet paper is not worth confronting your roommate over. You are not going to accomplish anything but embarrassing her.

My roommates and I bought a ton of tp in the beginning of the year. Something like 100 rolls for <$10 at costco; cost being split 3 ways. It’s not bad tp, it’s just not charmin. (And charmin and the like is bad since it is more likely to clog up your toilet).
If you do the math, that’s ~3 cents a roll per person.

If that’s not dirt cheap, I don’t know what is.

Johnson181: Are you talking about the Kirkland brand from Costco? I want your Costco if you were able to get close to 100 rolls for less than $10. The pack my family has always bought of this exact brand has only 36 rolls for $18. Still not terribly bad when you compare prices, but definitely a lot more per roll than you got yours for. I want super dirt cheap toilet paper </3

Funny thing is my mom and I can’t stand the Charmin. We both prefer the Kirkland.

OP: I have mixed feelings on this. Like OaksMom I would be concerned about possibly clogging the pipes with too much toilet paper. But it could backfire if this is the battle you choose to fight. Best I can think of is that something like this could be brought up during a budgeting concerns meeting with your roommates at a later date if it remains a financial concern. Or you could just have your own toilet paper stash and let your roommates fend for themselves.

Completely depends on the TP. My grandma is amazing and gets us Charmin Ultra at Costco. I’d confront your roommate if she’s using high quality stuff like that. Cheap TP, though, isn’t worth the battle.

Kender- I believe it was a knock off of charmin (ie similar name, but obviously not charmin). It’s also standard rolls, not extra large like most tp comes in.

For the record, there was also a sale and couponing involved to get it down to $10.

Johnson181: Hrm, never seen that large of a pack at Costco nor that cheap even with a coupon. I think the best I’ve seen is $14/$15 after coupon for Kirkland. Maybe it’s just the area I live in ::shrugs::. I definitely see items vary from Costco to Costco even within a 25 mile radius (example: one Costco has Oreida brand crinkle fries while the other has an organic brand).

Thanks for the info :). Wish you could remember the exact name because I’m super curious now! I really would love to see this at any of my local Costcos.
