weird SAT Writing question

Just as Ireland has produced many famous writers and the Netherlands an abundance of famous painters, (so Finland has provided a large number of famous architects.)

The part in brackets is the part that's underlined *

(A) so finland has provided a large number of famous architects
(B) Finland provides famous architects, and by large numbers
(C) Finland's contribution is to provide famous architects in a large number
(D) and so then, for Finland, a large number of famous architects is provided
(E) and like them Finland has provided a large number of famous architect

This is from the CB blue book and it says the answer is (A), but I don't think that makes any sense. Doesn't "so" in the phrase make the whole sentence illogical? Why is the answer (A)??

Thanks :)

With "just as" at the beginning, "so" sounds fine to start that portion of the sentence.

what did you think the answer was?

C. lol I didn't know that with "just as" at the beginning, you can use "so" as a conjunction. Thanks! :)

well it also comes down to elimination. D and E just don't make sense. B is a different tense. C would be fine if it was something like "Finland contributes..." - I guess this is a case of verb parallelism? But yeah, that leaves A.

it's just an idiom.

just as... so...
