Weird Situation, help?

Hi Transfer thread of America..

So, I just completed my freshman year at NYU. (I have 64 credits though, AP scores did me well.) And umm.. let's just say, I will not be going back in three weeks because we were denied ANY type of loan. So, I am kinda screwed for the fall... so I am looking to transfer for the Spring.

I am a white female from NJ.
Graduated 4/350 from a public highschool.
Lots of honors, LAX captain, mock trial..whatever
1340/2100 SAT
I dont remmebr my SAT 2s.. like 680-750 I think..
32 ACT
5's and six or seven Ap tests

NYU:
Journalism/Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies double major
3.35 in a small honors program (low GPA easily explained by terrible home/family situation, personal illness that is the reason I am transferring anyway)
Internship at high powered PR firm(did all the press for W magazine and Julia Roberts for four months)
Internship at a fashion production company
Intenrship at Sony Pictures production offices (business and press)

That's me. Plus an uncanny writing ability, and quite the hell of a family and life story.

I am thinking of:

Cornell, GWU, BC, CMU, WUSTL, Northwestern, Michigan, UVA, Notre Dame, Fordham, Villanova, BU, Wash/Lee, William Mary, (All Spring Admissions)

Any opinions? Responses? Suggestions? Chances? What should I do for this fall semester off?

I would love UChicago, Gtown, Penn.. but they are only Fall and I can't be out of school for a year.

Good deal. Realize that the AP credits will be re-evaluated by the school you transfer to so you MIGHT inadvertently lose some credits. I think you've got a shot at all of the schools you're interested in. WUSTL has VERY nice financial aid, which sounds right up your alley, not to mention a much better reputation than NYU. Your biggest reaches are going to be Cornell, CMU, and BC. The rest of the schools on your list have amicable transfer programs. As far as a breakdown of chances:

Cornell (CAS) - reach
GWU - match
BC - reach
CMU - reach
WUSTL - high match
Northwestern - high match
Michigan - match
UVA - high match
Notre Dame - match
Fordham - match
Villanova - low match
BU - match
Wash & Lee - dunno
William and Mary - match

You should get into a number of those and have some FA packages to compare. Biggest weakness is obviously GPA, but you're coming from a good school's honors program so I think it'll be overlooked by most. GL.

Chicago doesn't have a journalism program or an Islamic Studies major. If you went there, you would have to change your tune a bit (probably to International Studies).

Anyway, why not Rutgers/ TCNJ? They're great in-state schools and I think you'd probably get a good deal from either of them.
