Hey, thanks for looking at this.
My situation is a bit weird because I have great (I think at least) extracurriculars and family situation and stuff, but not so great grades.

Anyways, I'm looking to apply at UCLA, USC, Berkley, Pomona, Emory, and Wake Forest.
I'm most interested in knowing my chances for UCLA, but if you want to comment on the other stuff to, that's totally fine.

Here's some info:
GPA: 3.5 unweighted 3.9 unweighted
Class Load: 2 APs soph year, 4 APs junior, most other classes were honors
Extracurriculars--Speech and Debate for 4 years
ranked 10th in California as a sophomore
only junior to qualify to the Tournament of Champions (basically nationals) without a coach last year
won 4 out of the 5 competitions i was last in (got 3rd in the other)
consistently place very high at tournaments
Leadership Positions:
Secretary of Speech and Debate team sophomore year
Debate Captain (means I teach debate to the novices) junior and senior years
President of the Speech and Debate team
Community Service:
Spent 2+ hours a day teaching novices how to debate my junior year (and am doing that my senior year)
Standardized Tests:
PSAT-224
ACT-33
SAT-just took it; haven't gotten my scores back
Family Situation/Difficulties:
My mom fought cancer for the past three years (actually, she just passed away about a week ago). The challenges that presented were exasperated by the fact that I have a four year old brother--with my dad at work or taking care of my mom, things around the house have obviously been difficult.

Any thoughts on my chances of getting admitted to some of those schools (UCLA especially) would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
