i heard that a couple of years ago, one of stanford's essays was "describe yourself" or something along those lines....

someone but "succinct" and apparently got in.

now this year they have this picture and essay topic...
someone at my school suggested taking a picture of his butt and writing about how he was well-rounded... i understand that this trying to be funny thing could turn out both ways...

I've heard the succinct this too, in a different form- the topic asked about your best trait, and the student's essay was "brevity." I'm pretty sure it's not true, but I could believe if it were- it is clever and thought-provoking.

I could believe it, I would certainly get sick of reading all those essays, especially since so many people go over the limit. I bet that by the end they all think brevity is a virtue.

Kinda makes me wish I had made my essays shorter...

its not possible to write short essays when they have a 5100 character limit. I felt really guilty when I found that mine had come to 3597. And that was when I had already written 727 words!

yup my essay was a LOT under 5100. and it was 1.5 pages single spaced. im applying to stanford RD but i didn't make the december 1 deadline. in fact i dont even know if i'll make the deadline for the 15th.

the Dec 1 deadline doesn't mean anything, but you'd better have it in by the 15th. You can wait till 11:59 PST on the 15th, but its gotta go in all the same.

Funny story: I sent my EA app in the night before at like 8:58, and it showed up on there as 11:59 PST!! I was very taken aback... I live in CA...
