I asked my internship mentor to write recommendation letters for me for my college applications. I added her as an "other recommender" in the common app, and she's written them for my EA schools already.

I've added her again as an "other recommender" in the Common Application for my regular decision schools, but she somehow still hasn't gotten an email about it. Also, when I checked the Common Application again, in the "Recommenders and FERPA" tab, it says that I did assign her this month, but it also says that she submitted the letters on October 20, 2014 when in fact, she actually did not. Also, October 20th is around the time I added her as an "other recommender" for my EA schools....

So, if anyone could please tell me what I should do about this and why the Common Application says that, I would appreciate it very much.

“Assigning” is not the same thing as “inviting,” and recommenders only get an email when you invite them, which you can basically only do once. Recommenders can only write one letter for all the schools; they don’t write one for each school. If your mentor submitted her letter in October (probably on the 20th), then that is the letter that will be sent out to any school you assign her to–at this point, with the letter already written, you are really “assigning” the letter that has already been written.

If you need her to write a different letter for other schools (this came up a while ago), you can probably invite her if she has another email address, but the important thing to note is that inviting a recommender and assigning a recommender are not the same thing.
