Weird topic. Is it too weird?

So... I've scrapped about four different essay ideas up to this point, and I have a new one. I want to write about my newfound infatuation with sweaters. However, I'm also going to form a metaphor comparing my personality traits to the experience of wearing a sweater and/or a sweater in general.

Too weird? Or can it work?

It can absolutely work.

Nothing is too weird! I know someone who wrote about his obsession with his pinky; he got into Stanford.

Wow, that makes me feel loads better. :]

It's almost as good as wearing a sweater. hehe.

If you have doubts and are not comfortable with the subject, it may not be a good idea. Those I have seen who have done well with off the wall essays are not intimidated or doubtful about their subjects. It is part of them.

It's early - try writing this one and another and when both are done, see which you think is better. I think this has good potential.
