Weird Transfer Situation

I'm looking to transfer to a UC campus for fall 2012, probably Santa Barbara, San Diego, or Irvine. By the end of this year I'll have all my required pre-reqs done, I'll have completed my IGETC, and I'll have about 66 units completed. However, I'm still in an interesting situation.

I took seven AP classes in high school, and passed all seven tests which earned me a total of 30 units of transferable credit. It also fulfilled a bunch of my IGETC requirements; basically, if I finished my IGETC, I could be in and out of community college within one year and that's what I'm doing right now.

However, because this is only my first semester in community college, I don't have any grades with which to apply. So, no GPA to put down. I have A's in all my classes so far and we're three months in, but what am I supposed to tell the schools? Do I put projected grades for the fall term? do I just put "in progress" and "planned" for every course I list, and then if I don't meet the requirements later they rescind me?

Obviously I'm in the same situation with every school, so any help would be greatly appreciated.

For Fall 2011 classes just put down IP (In progress). Also put down what you plan to take for winter 2012 and spring 2012 and put PL (Planned)

passed all seven AP Test? wow, that’s a great accomplishment, I only passed three and barley at that. Just curious, if you passed 7 AP test you must have been a good student HS, guessing at least 3.5+ GPA and 1800+ SAT score… so why did you choose a JC? I know I did because I was rejected from UCLA, UCB, and UCSD my top three…

You will update your application in december with your final grades for fall 2011. Those grades will create the GPA that the schools you apply to will see.

aka don’t mess up this quarter

I’m in the same situation as you. I passed 7 AP exams (most with the score of 4 and above, only one had a 3, but it was still acceptable). I do have a GPA though since I took a few classes in the summer.

The UCs will look at your fall grades, so don’t worry. They’ll judge you based on your fall grades and then decide whether they want you or not. :)

Its funny, I also passed 7 AP tests with only one 3 and no fails

Thanks for the replies everyone. I emailed admissions and I’m waiting for them to get back to me but you all sound right :)

@UCHopeful12 I was a pretty good student, about a 3.6 GPA and a 2100 SAT. I got decent grades my senior year but I was lazy and had no desire to do anything, so at the end of the year I talked things over with my parents and decided I wanted to take a year at a JC to build up I guess what you would call a “scholastic maturity” so I wouldn’t spend $30,000 dollars at a UC and drop out or get awful grades my first year. Plus it saved my family a bunch of money and since my younger brother is only two years away from college, that was a smart move.

Also, as for my AP scores, I got a 3 on Stats; 4s on Psych, Bio, and Senior English; and 5s on Art History, World History, and Junior English.
