Weird...

So ... my school is weird.

They assign an A in an AP class as a 5.0. Regular classes are given a 4.0. So, if you get all A's in regular classes, you'll obviously end up with a 4.0.

Now... here's where the weird part comes in! I want to have the fullest schedule possible, but if I do, I won't have a chance for Val or Sal... because there are people that just take 5-6 AP classes a semester and are done. SO obviously a 5(6)= 30/6 = 5.0 , compared to my 5(6) + 4(2)/8 = 4.75

Do you think it is wise to take these courses? I'd have to look it up again, but I know they would relate to my major, dealing with business.

So, my question: Would Wharton rather see me (would it improve my chances) take my 6 APs a semester and get roughly a 4.6 (they didnt let us take APs as a freshman and only one as a sophmore) or would they like to see me get a 4.4 and take the same APs + courses related to my major? At my school, this would surely effect my rank.

So?

chance me too!

I vote more classes. At my school we’re always trying to cram in classes, even if they’re unweighted. Don’t worry about weights and GPA. It’s just to show how hard you worked, and how challenging your classes are. Wharton will look at your schedule/transcript and notice both the AP’s and additional courses.

Djokovic: That was really rude. Don’t not chance me and just post a link. Get over yourself.

Cyber: Hmm, thats what I was leaning towards as well.

What do other people think?

I think its smarter if you did as much APs and other high level courses as possible at your school, and make sure you tell them that in your essays.

Well, I AM.

I’m taking 14 of the 16 AP classes available. If I wanted to, I could actually fit in another one (but it would take the TWO business classes my senior year and push them out.) The only two that I’m not taking are: AP Music Theory and AP Chemistry.

I hate Chemistry … can’t bring myself to do it AP.

So … I am taking all the hardest course essentilly, but others just do those AP classes and othing else… which is where my problem comes in.

bump

10 char

Do you actually pass these AP classes you take?

I would list your scores because competitive colleges do consider AP scores for admissions practices.

Im a rising Junior. I got a 5 on my Honors Euro, IntangiblGator.

But they did as well as I do too! (I know their schedule from FB btw. Everyone puts up their schdeule to see if we have any classes…etc.) It’s so frustrating because they only take 5/6 classes a day and are walking away as VAL!!! When I’m busting my butt off with 8 classes (9 if you include PE… but it doesnt hurt your GPA) and I’m still only like 6%! Frustrating to say the least.

Well… this changes things. Im currently in the top 12%. Ugh… (due to a B, B+, and an A-) Freshman year.

Ugh.

Still, any thoughts?
