weirdest mix of emotions EVER.....

well i got accepted into UCSD which i long considered a long shot because of my sat 2 scores but i was esctatic once i found out…

now after 10 minutes of pure celebration, i am stuck on what to do for college. since i thought the top 3 UCs were longshots for me, i basically have been trying to decide between ucd, uci, and cal poly slo for computer science and i have pretty much convince myself that ucd is the place for me to go to get a good education and to have some fun. now that UCSD is in the mix, i am having to start all over after spending weeks gathering and comparing info for the other schools.

i know UCSD diploma and education has more prestige but La Jolla is plain boring and the campus is dead (all assumptions based on others reported experiences) while UCD has plenty of activities to do plus its only 2 hours away from home compared to ucsd’s 6-8, so i can easily go home if i ever needed anything.

so basically, is UCSD education/experience (if their is any) worth reevaluating my college choice?

PS: i sorta hope i dont get into UCB cuz that would cuz me to go crazy

what were your stats?

UCSD kids party at SDSU...so, the social scene isn't "dead"

trump: my stats http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=42522&page=2&pp=20

slicm: how close is sdsu to ucsd cuz i wont be bringing my car and just for convenience, is there ANYTHING to do on campus?? no one parties at ucsd or are there any intramural sports?

and does ucsd have any sports teams?

I talked to three friends last night all of whom are going to UCSD right now. They all agree that it has a bad social life and yes, they even said the infamous word: "dead".

whow, that is the strongest statement i heard so far about ucsd.......so would UCSD education outweigh UCD social atmosphere especially in computer science or electrical engineering? what kind of internships do both schools offer?

wicked: did ur friends say it was worth going to UCSD though? would they have changed their minds had they known beforehand?

i'd say davis. im in the same situation as you as of right now. i live in san diego and on behalf of the san diego citizens, ucsd royally sucks. go there if u dont want to have a life. GO AGGIES!!!

For computer science, if you get into UCB, go. It will give you opportunities and access to jobs the others won't. The difference between UCSD and UCD isn't as big, though SD is better and in an area with more internship opportunities.

On another front, the kids I know at Davis do not report that it's fun or exciting, it also has issues. You can make your own fun so choose the school you feel will best help you meet your career goals.

2vulgar4cc: yea man it sux to have to choose when the decision should be obvious for education (ucsd), but i cant imagine myself being bored and studying in my dorm for 4 years. wat are you gonna do?

zagat: yeah, prolly cuz UCD is located in the middle of nowhere but i heard their campus is pretty fun and they will be having D1 sports (i am a huge sports nut) but UCSD is near san diego, the beach, and the BORDER but its boring on campus.

however i would think UCD would have just as many internship opportunities due to its proximity to the Silicon Valley (where I live btw)

Two of them didnt go into much detail they just said they weren't enjoying them selves with a "ucsd sucks" comment here and there. The other guy was trying to transfer out and told me to defenitely not go there. Overall very negative feelings. Btw, this was at a dorm at Stanford U and people were pretty drunk so i would reccomend visiting yourself before taking any of that too seriously.

hahahaha.......sometimes alcohol can show a persons true feelings OR they can just be speaking out of their ass.....problem is i cant visit since i live in san jose and my school and weekends are pretty booked
