WeiWeird GPA, Class rank, competitive high school?

<p>Okay, so I just out of the blue requested some info on some stuff from my dean. I learned my composite GPA from last year and class rank. It was interesting. </p>

<p>From the registry,
It says I got an almost near exact 10 pt GPA on a 12 pt scale. That converts to a what, near 3.7 GPA. I thought a 3.7 was pretty good. Please tell me if I'm mistaken.</p>

<p>Then I am told my class rank, I am shocked. 182 of 470. I nearly died.... I got near straight A's that year, and a B- brought me down....</p>

<p>That means, 181 people have a 3.7 or better. I am I going crazy? Does anyone else has something so competitive and depressing?</p>

<p>Also, my schools average is 25 ACT composite and a 1800 SAT. How common is this? Espeically for a public school?</p>

<p>thats high compared to my public school, i think we avg 1500-1600 SAT</p>

<p>Sounds like your school has tremendous grade inflation given so many have over a 3.7. An 1800 is a high average SAT score for a public school but many public schools in affluent areas have equal or better scores.</p>

<p>Gosh my high school averages a 20 ACT, but a 3.5 is top 25%....</p>
