Does anyone know when do they send out acceptance notifications for Welch Summer Scholar 2015.
@AllenTx15 It looks like last year they sent out emails around March 19th.

My son is really hoping for chance to do something special at Welch. He has pretty high stats, and good letters of recommendation, but who knows what WSSP is really looking for?

@psywar. Thanks. I saw the thread. I was not sure if there is any official date. My son is very interested too. He is currently sophomore (Rising Junior). Not sure if there is a preference to current Juniors or it does not matter.
Good luck to your son. May be if they don’t receive by 4th week of March, then either they did not get it or waitlisted.
@AllenTx15 My son applied last year as a sophomore, I think lack of AP Chem hurt him (he’d earned a 100 on honors Chem). But with near perfect AP Chem grades this junior year and helping to found his school’s Chem Olympiad team, I’m hoping this helps push him over the top.
He truly loves Chemistry and would work really hard on this opportunity. He doesn’t have research experience, but that’s what WSSP is a meant to provide, right?
I’m hoping both our kids get to meet each other attending the program this summer.

@Psywar, Looks like your son has a good chance. My son is in same situation as your son was last year. He has Chem Honors with 100% this year, but no AP Chemistry. His strength is SAT Score and academics. I do hope they make it.

And… still waiting. I believe they accept around 25-27 participants out of about 200+ applicants

Daughter got accepted, via email. She’s been given till April 10th to accept. She is ecstatic, and is going to accept.
Denied as well sadly but if any of you got accepted I would appreciate it if you could tell me what you think helped your application!
My D got accepted. It will be at Texas tech
I am not sure what the criteria is. But I guess strong recommendation letter from Chemistry teacher helps. Since this program has a heavy chemistry component to it
