LFWBDad, you brought up the subject of the Parents Assoc. Picnic in Alexandria June 2.

I'm wondering what other state USMMA Parent Associations are having them.

The Georgia USMMA Parents Assoc welcome aboard picnic is Sunday, June 24 from 2-5pm near Atlanta on the Chattahoochee River at a county park pavilion near Jones Bridge Road and SR 141.

We invite incoming GA midshipmen and their parents and siblings to the Bar-B-Q. All present GA USMMA midshipmen and their parents are urged to come. We also honor the GA grads of the USMMA Class of 2007 and their parents. Plus the GA USMMA Alumni Association joins us. The highlight is a Q&A panel conducted by the present midshipmen and 2007 grads that fields questions from the incoming midshipmen. One of the alumni also gives some very helpful and encouraging advice.

This year the Mid Atlantic picnic will will be held on Saturday, 2 June at TISCOM, the U.S. Coast Guard facility in Alexandria, VA.

Its a great help parents and it gives the Plebe Candidates a chance to know a few faces before indoc.

There are always a few upperclass Mids there and they take the PC off and talk with them as the parents discuss the virtues of EZPass and the relative merits of the GW vs. the Verrazzano Bridge.

For once I get to beat Jamzmom to a post. :) We are both in SC and we are finalizing our plans for our picnic. It will be at the end of June. We will give more details once our plans are final.

Are guests allowed at this LFWB? Our dear friends live in the area and their son is a junior this year and is thinking about an Academy. I saw some of the other parent picnics were also for kids thinking about an Academy post highschool.

The Welcome Aboard Luncheon for the Northern New England States is on Saturday, June 23 at Joe's American Bar and Grill. Candidates and Midshipmen are Free -- Parents and Alumni cost is $25.00. Special gifts will be given to each Candidate.

The SC Parents' Association will hold their Welcome Aboard picnic on June 23, 2007 at the Buck Hall Recreation Area near McClellanville, SC starting at 1200.
