Welcome Admit Day

I don’t think I can make the welcome day this Sunday. Am I going to miss out on much? The only time I can really visit is during the last week of April during spring break for my school.

I never went to a welcome day. When I visited after being accepted (my first visit), I went on the normal tour, but I also got in touch with my department. They set up a meeting with the head of my program, and I got to sit in on a class and talk to some current students.

Personally I think Welcome Days are pretty helpful, but certainly not necessary. If you can’t make the one on Sunday, there are two others offered on Saturday 9th and Saturday 16th. Even if it’s not for your major/college, there’s still some good general information and exposure to the campus that you can gain from it. I actually ended up with my current major at NEU from welcome day because I couldn’t make it to the specific day I was assigned to at the time and picked a random session and ended up loving it!

Can anyone tell me the general format of Welcome Day? We are heading there this weekend. Is a tour involved? Anything specific for parents?

@wcfrosty You should have been able to customize a schedule when registering. It usually starts off with a general talk about the school/program. Afterwards, depending on the school, there might be separate breakout sessions tailored for parents and students. These can range anywhere from academics to co-op to support services, study abroad, etc. There is the option for tours in the afternoon - both of the general campus and residential halls.
