Welcome! :D

So, I guess this is the first topic in the new board. For all who've been accepted, why are you going to U of M, and what are you most excited about? Anyone passing up the opportunity, and why?

Psyched to see everyone next Fall!

I’m accepted and UMich sounds really neat, but I’m out of state, so I’m waiting to hear about scholarships. Do you know when they come out? Because without scholarship it is an automatic “no” for me, and with it, Michigan would be one of my top choices.

I may or may not go. Probably not if I don’t get any money. It sucks because I’ve wanted to go there for the last 10 years and have watched every football game since I was like 10. But Alabama and Texas A&M are giving me full or very-close-to-full rides. I have to pay for all of my college, so I don’t think I’ll be able to pass it up.

I applied to Alabama too, and am tempted by their scholarship offer of full tuition. My parents are making me pay part, and they want wherever I go to be equal in cost as a UC, since that’s my state school.

^Have you visited? I only have to pay for food there. So that’s like 3k a year, compared to 25k.

I have been admitted to UMich and am 99% attending. I’ve already been awarded a Michigan Tradition Scholarship which covers most tuition costs as an in-state student. I’m hoping to get more aid for room and board to make Mich the cheapest it can be, but they’ve given me more than any other school so far. I am definitely excited to move on from High School and begin my college life at UMich, I just can’t pick a single part of it that I prefer! :D

I haven’t visited yet, but I’m going to visit it during my spring break in March, along with a few other schools. Have you?

Do you know when UMich typically announces merit aid scholarships by?

I’m not entirely sure of this, but they are released on a regular basis starting in early December and they keep going out until sometime in April. Usually if you’ve been admitted already though, you will probably receive it before April. Sorry I can’t be of too much help.

Alright, thanks. That actually helps. I like UMich, but since I haven’t heard from them about scholarships yet, I was wondering whether or not to cross it off the list or keep waiting.

wooooooooot :D

I got into UM, but I don’t really want to go. My parents are trying to force me. I’d rather just go to community college, get high all day and listen to Def Karaoke Jam…

^ You have said that 4 times now! Hahaha

I really want to go but like a lot of others, am having financial concerns. If I get enough aid, I’m so def going. Third generation Michiganer

I’m waiting to hear back from all my other schools. I live in Ann Arbor, so Michigan’s nothing new to me. For all of you who haven’t visited, this is the GREATEST college town. You’ll love it. I had so much trouble finding other schools to apply to because none of them were as great as the U of M.

Also, if you’re worried about scholarships, go to fastweb.com and check out the scholarships they have specifically for U of M.

Really excited to have gotten in, I hope I’ll end up going to UMich but I’ll have to see how scholarships work out. Did anyone else get any word yet about aid?

yay! juz stumbled upon the michigan email this morning, totally unexpected! I did not apply for any michigan scholarships on the app form, so shld i expect any scholarship offers?

oh i had applied to the econ major in lsa, but under my application data in wolverine, i was listed as undecided lsa. Shld i call them to correct this?

I just got accepted this morning!
UMich is probably my favorite out of the schools I’ve been accepted to so far, but I still have quite a few to hear back from, so right now I’m undecided as to whether or not I’m going. Guess I’ll have to wait until April to know for sure!

I am SO excited though!

illinoisgirl324, congras! while, may I know how you got the message of being accepted, email, or mail? many thanks for your reply in advance.

Sure, linkate – I got an email from UM Admissions saying I was admitted. I then checked my application on WA and saw that it said “admitted” there, too.
