Welcome Fall '08 Transfer Students!

It depends on a lot of different things. I was told last year when I transferred in that they send the syllabi and descriptions to the various department heads who evaluate them to see if Vandy has a class that is comparable. If there is an equivalent class, they'll give you equivalent credit. If there's not, they'll give you "non-equivalent credit" which counts as elective and NOT towards AXLE, Liberal Education Core, a major, or minor. Most of my friends who transferred got almost all of their credit...I was coming from a weird situation and lost a TON of credit. If you're coming from a school on semesters you should be fine-- my old school was on quarters and I only got 2.7 hours rather than 3 for nearly all of my classes, which screwed me over. There is a process that you can use to appeal if you think you should've gotten credit, however!

Hello fellow transfers! There is also an "I'm transferring to Vanderbilt in 2008" facebook group. Just search, "Vanderbilt transfer"; it should come up.
