Welcome New College Rep, UNCWAdmissions, from UNCW

I have twins who both applied early action, out of state. Will scholarship offers be given at the same time as acceptance notification? This is a top choice for them. Have visited the campus twice, and they both loved it. Also, will notification be on line, or only in the mail?
Thanks!

UNCW Admissions:
We visited the college this summer. We couldn’t get a satisfactory answer on being tripled in the dorm rooms.
Can you please give us the statistics as to how many students are tripled this year, and the breakdown as to male and female.

UNCW will not send out scholarship awards with our decision letters. We ask that each student apply for those separately, and information can be found on the following website: [Quick Links - Scholarships](404: Page Not Found | UNCW) Most Scholarship award letters will go out around March or April to those that have applied so each student, no matter which round they apply for, will have an equal chance.

Decision letters will only be sent via US Mail from UNCW.

Each year housing numbers change significantly. Any incoming first year student is guaranteed housing on campus if they pay both the enrollment deposit of $100 and the housing deposit of $105 by May 1st. There have been years in the past where more first year students request on campus housing than we have rooms for. In this instance UNCW will allow the RA’s to have roommates and some of our largest rooms will be switched from a double room to a triple to accommodate each request.

This time of the year as UNCW approaches the end of a semester we see students leaving to study abroad, transfer or leaving for an exchange program. This often times opens up new rooms or beds where students could be moved to if they are in a triple room.

This year approximately 95% of our first year students chose to live on campus. UNCW has one all female residence hall (Belk) and the others are all co-ed. Co-ed residence halls are split by ends of the halls, by actual halls or sometimes by sides of the halls by male/female- only students of the same sex reside in a room together. While we can not predict the amount of male/female students living on campus for this next year, I can say that the male/female ratio for 2011 was 41%/59%.

shadow1: I hope you find this information useful. Since students are changing in housing areas each semester it is difficult for me to give you hard numbers. Please let me know if you have any other questions: admissions@uncw.edu

Just found out that a friend’s son from our town (out of state) who applied EA received his acceptance letter two weeks ago in the mail. I’m thinking it’s not looking so good for my kid :(

Skyeview:
We have begun the process of sending out some admissions decisions. As always these will be a variety of decisions, and there is no order to how they go out. We will continue to be in admissions committee this week and next and hopefully the rest of our students should receive their decisions after that. With an influx of applications this year we had to start the mailing a bit earlier to make sure we could finish up by our January 20th notification date.

I hope this alleviates some concerns… the letters will be coming!

Skyeview…I did not expect people to hear this early. I am now worried about my daughter’s chances too. She has not heard anything yet and we are out-of-state. Let’s hope for good news soon!

Anyone hear more yet? My twins are dying here in Virginia

Me and a few friends found out today . But we are instate. I’m sure they will be coming soon  !!

Was it on line, or in the mail? Congrats to you!!!

My daughter and a few of her friends found out yesterday. We are in state and all contact is in the form of letters. There is no online acceptance. Good luck to your children!!

D here in VA received her UNCW acceptance via US mail yesterday.

My daughter applied for scholarships. When you go onto her Seaport you cannot access any scholarship information without paying the non-refundable deposit. How long does it take to be notified if you have received any scholarships?

I want to major in criminology and criminal justice how strong is the education in that major? And is it easy to find an internship?

My D receive an invitation to apply for Honors College. Is there a deadline to send in the application? She said she could not find one on the website.

i think it is april 1st or soon thereafter. I think it was in the letter.
