Welcome Packet

Hi guys, so my transcript finally loaded on wednesday (status changed on monday the 23rd) and I got my letter today... for those accepted, about how long did it take for you to get your welcome packet??? I live just across the water from Seattle so its not like im in Florida or anything.

Now that I'm in, I'm anxious for my packet?

And exactly what is IN the "welcome packet" anyways?

Congrats cman! I knew you would get in :) You were anxious for nothing!

Anyways, I got mine the next day, but I've heard of some people taking a week or so. My friend who got accepted last friday got it a few days ago.

The welcome packet just has information on what you need to do like paying the enrollment fee and measles immunity form and some other information on signing up for orientation programs and placement testing.

Though my welcome packet took a month after all of my friends' did to arrive (the first one was lost in the mail), all of my friends had theirs arrive within around two weeks after they received their letters.

However, since it's getting closer to the May 1 deadline, I'd expect that you'd get your packet in about a week.

cman how frickin pumped were you! it felt twice as good as the transcript upload.

^^ haha yeah man, I know exactly what you were talkin about. I just got a huge adrenaline rush lol, cuz I finally knew where I was gonna be next year. Aaaaaaaand I just got the welcome packet today! It just keeps getting better and better…

Best of luck to all still waiting. Hopefully you’ll be joining us soo.

The letter came December 14, and now its December 29, and have received the welcome packet. Too soon, or is it late?

my letter said the packet will be mailed to me in january… so dont fret :)

Where does the transcript upload?

Still no packet…

Accepted 12/22. Still no packet. Anyone get theirs yet?

Called. Housing packets arrive Jan 30 - Feb 3.

hmm I don’t remember getting a housing packet

Accepted Dec 22, got my packet yesterday. I live close to the UW though, so that might be why. A bunch of my friends got their packets yesterday/today, so stay tuned for yours!

Accepted 12/22, got my packet today (live in southern ca). Still hoping and waiting for honors decision.

^^BubbleTeaChibi, Congrats on honors acceptance! did you get honors letter and welcome packet on the same day? What do think my chances are for honors?
GPA: 3.8 (weighted 4.0)
ACT: 32
SAT: 2080, Reading: 760, Math: 660, Writing: 660
SAT II Bio: 750, US: 640, Comp: 620
AP Bio: 5, US: 4, Comp:4 , Euro: 3
8 AP classes, 1 Honors class, 1 community college class
Lots of Music EC,
I’m pretty sure I got a great letter of rec. from my AP bio teacher.

Thanks!

Hey Gimmel,
Thanks! I did get the honors letter and welcome packet on the same day (a surprise to me!)
Given your stats, I’d say you have a good chance (I don’t know if they look at IS/OOS). Mine are actually pretty similar, give or take a few things. I’m going to assume your ECs are well written and shows commitment.

Hopefully your essays are well written and really encompasses who you are. I know a few well qualified, now UW freshmen who were denied admissions to the Honors program because their essays seemed sloppy and poorly written (they called and asked about their denial). The prompt that got them last year was something like, “If you were Amish for a day, how would you spend your day?”

The teacher recommendation should be catered towards the Honors Program (Why should they take this student?). I actually didn’t know that at the time I asked my teacher for a recommendation. However, if your teacher knows how to write a great rec, you’re a pretty strong candidate. This is known to be an important distinguishing factor between acceptance and denial. It seems like your teacher gave you a good rec, that’s some extra points there. :)

I also come from a well known, highly rigorous high school in Washington. I’m not sure if that made a difference or put any weight in my GPA/types of classes I’m taking.

Good luck, and as I’m headed to UW next year, I hope I see you there! :)

I got my acceptance and welcome packet the same day. which was today.
I’m still waiting for my honors letter!

Accepted today in New York! Letter said packet will be sent under separate cover. Still thinking about whether Seattle weather is right for me.

Vitrac, definitely come visit if you can! :)

Got packet in Tennessee today.

The weather isn’t half as bad as it’s made out to be. Sure, the winter’s are grey- but the sunny days are beautiful, unlike any i’ve seen in California, Hawaii, or even the Bahamas. It doesn’t pour every day, usually just a light shower if anything. It’s been in the 50’s here lately. The climate here gets a lot more criticism then it deserves, not quite sure why.
Anywho, I’m terrified. A LOT of people’s status changed today + transcripts loaded. Mine still hasn’t changed. :frowning:
about a 3.597uw, 1920 sat. not the greatest stats in the world…

Congrats to all who got in!
