Does anyone know if the regional welcome receptions are supposed to be casual or formal dress? I thought that they would be more casual, but they're being held in business buildings, so I'm not sure..

I just got back from one. Dress ranged from casual (jeans and sneakers) to business (suit). Personally, I wore khakis and a dress shirt w/ tie.

what was the average dress?

You’re not trying to impress anyone anymore, you’re just trying to get some information and make some friends. I would go looking nice but not formal.

You’re always supposed to dress to impress – whether in a suit to show you’re powerful, in casual clothes to show you’re a cool guy, or in gym clothes to show you’ve got a good body. But I’d agree that nice but not formal is the way to go.

This is not formal but also not “nice.” I’m debating whether this is tech geek, mailroom dude, or car salesman. Please, dude: NEVER AGAIN WEAR KHAKIS WITH A TIE.
