anyone know who's going to be playing at the concert?

so we discussed britney spears...federline cringes...anyone with real insight? :D

Is it supposed to be a surprise or will they tell us?

i personally think five for fighting should come back to his alma mater and perform. :D

isnt it a surprise folks?

it is?...what happened last year?

but then again, if it's some horrific act, then maybe UCLA HAS to keep it a "surprise" to avoid pre-Welcome Week protestation...

As of a few weeks ago they still hadn't booked anyone. Or at least it wasn't released.

And eh, not usually a surprise. They usually start hyping it about now. But since the website is very, very vague, they are either scrambling to get people or it's a surprise. Blah.

http://students.asucla.ucla.edu/cec/

Why must we have not so great activities? It seems like other UCs got better things coming their way.

what about the free sneak at AGB? anyone working for CEC right now!? :D

it's not a popularity contest! =P

but i want to know who is performing as well =

They'll publicize the movie pretty soon. But the waiting is annoying.

Seriously though, we have way better stuff going on than most, if not all, of the other UCs. Maybe not for Welcome Week (I don't know what the other schools have going on), but CEC is pretty consistantly awesome all year. We definitely have the best movie program and our concerts are usually pretty cool. Diplo was amazing.

allie: i think it's the former...major scrambling. if they had an awesome act, i doubt they would keep it a secret...

Agreed.

They always pull through though (last year Deathcab pulled out at the last minute. I can't remember if Thrice or Common replaced them. But yeah). So we'll see.

hoping for the best...

...or the decent

Diplo was definitely very cool in concert last year. The concerts and movies overall are great, and I've met a couple of the performers like Dizzee Rascal and J-Live when they've visited. They are definitely pretty much in tune with what the college audience likes and do a good job in their selections. No problem with Campus Events here, they do a good job and most of the time we get it for free.

awww death cab was lined up originally? :( i didnt like thrice.

^ same sentiment. =/

whats CEC?

anyway, anyone who went to the "dance" after the concert can you give some feedback? its either that or the movie.

Campus Events Comission. They book/run all of the student events.

And eh. I skipped the dance for the movie. Heard mixed sentiments about it.

Yeah. Thrice was really, really terrible. The best part of Thrice was watching all of the kids crowdsurf after they announced no crowd surfing and then promptly getting pulled by security. Really. That was the best part.

hahah...

wait. that's pretty sad.
