School is almost starting and im gonna be a freshman and i just wanted to know what your colleges do for welcome week??

Depends on the weather really. If it is good, mine will do a bubble dance (fill a massive pool like thing with bubbles and have at it), picnics, etc.

Block party, amusement park, museums, circus, broadway show, movie night on the lawn, etc. Honestly really psyched as a freshman :)

My school sets up an international food day where the entire student body chills on the main quad eating ethnic-ish food. Then there is a welcomefest concert that night. After that it’s a weekend for whatever you want to do (partying) and then school starts.

For freshmen, we have 40 days of freshmen focused events. The first week has hordes of clubs/res colleges doing free food and free stuff to get freshmen immersed in college life.

For sophomores and up, there’s no love at all… lol.

i think my school has a battle of the halls sporting event. it sounds fun! i cant wait

Lots of “getting to know your classmates” activities. Lots of service (because that’s something our school values deeply). And a foam party! So fun. Nothing like actual school though haha.

Well officially we have upperclassmen leaders assigned to a group of freshman from the same dorm. During the week your leaders take you kayaking, surfing, paintballing, hiking, downtown, to the farmers market…etc. The school puts on tons of presentations, a dance, chances to meet your counselors and so on. Unofficially there are TONS of huge parties that go on during the nights, I think last year they had over 3,500 freshman just wandering the street on the first night.

Overall it was one of the best weeks of my life.

Tons and tons and tons of stuff. The actual school doesn’t have that many school-sponsored events. There’s the Freshman Reading Experience and New Student Convocation and a few other things like First Night Carolina (you learn all of the school cheers and they have lots of different activities like t-shirt and sign making) and Bustle At the Russel (Our student union).

But all of the school’s clubs put on lots of activities. I know churches are really active during Freshman Welcome Week with everything from raves to Wal-Mart runs to bowling.

I don’t think we have any activities really, maybe some clubs have welcome event-type things sometimes but that’s about it. Mostly just everyone parties ridiculously every night and there’ll be a lot of concerts that week and stuff.

most will have different parties/picnics, movies, concerts, get to know each other events, get to know the school, a lot of stuff like that

Hey everyone,

I could not attend new student convocation today Can anyone tell me what goes on? What did I miss? The email I got said it was required for new students, do they take attendance or something? Thanks

^Ask your college or school not us.
