Hi, im a c/o13 magazine journalism major in the honors program (Banneker key), i'm also considering entering the jimenez proter writers house (i applied and was invited)

but my question is.What happens when we move in. whats welcome week like? will we even have a whole week? how much time will we have before classes start? anecdotes are encouraged

hey! i’m also an incoming freshmen. this is what others have been saying so far:

8/27-move in day for people in honors, gemstone, scholars

8/28-move in day for everyone else

8/31-classes start

i’m not really sure what activities are held on welcome week, but there might be a social gathering/ dinner type of thing.

ok thats not a lot of time… but thanks 4 the info

Now I’m just wondering when move in day is for kids doing marching band (band camp)

from what i can remember, marching band kids tend to move in the earliest (7-8 days before classes start or 3-4 days before people in honors and scholars) and gemstone kids attending gems camp move in next (6-7 days before classes start or 2-3 days before people in honors and scholars). everyone else moves in on the days that onestopNYC listed.

last year’s schedule for the new resident orientation is at http://www.resnet.umd.edu/nro/pdfs/nroscheduleofevents_08.pdf . i dont know how many of these activities will be at the 09 NRO, but the new student welcome and the SEE outdoor movie happen basically every year.
