Well balls, for the second time in a row...

-1, easy algebra.

-1 was a 760? Say what?
I feel your pain - I got a 720 (Jan. 2010) due to 3 careless errors (grid-in a / instead of a . , got #2 wrong in a section, missed a word in a question)
It hurts. But I finally got that 800 this time. Managed to somehow avoid those careless errors. Thankfully. Because I’m sure if I take it again I’d probably get a 780, due to a mistake similar to yours.

Try retaking once more and before you do, narrow down what your errors happen on. My problem was with “how many” questions, mostly - I’d answer for something they didn’t ask for (which, annoyingly enough, is IN the answer choices - someone tell me now that CB isn’t trying to trick us, please.)

That really, really sucks. Luck of the draw, I guess; do you usually take your time on each question or blur through it and double-check (which is what I do, though I usually end up with 7X0 using this method)? I’ve never even received an 800 on a practice test.

^I only got an 800 once on a practice test, and that was because the curve was lenient, with a -1 = 800. No mistakes in the actual June SAT. (I was ranging between 1 and 3 wrong per test, or a 760 and an 800 - which I only got once as I said above.)
It’s just a matter of luck. I’ve never finished more than 5 minutes before time, but then again I double check my work like 5 times after finishing each problem. At least, I started to, after January.
It’s really a matter of luck, most of the time. For the math, for the essay. CR, too, maybe, because the vocab sometimes just doesn’t suit what you know and sometimes it does, and passages sometimes don’t come to your liking (I personally prefer narratives - I hardly ever miss any questions on those texts.)
At any rate, there are few people who can consistently score 2400’s. There’s always a bit of luck involved.
Or maybe others are just more attentive than we are. Who knows.

I got the same EXACT problem as you question. I got a 760M in June and got 1 wrong on a medium algebra question. -.-

I dont believe this either, I got a 760 for 1 wrong…

Wow, I am sorry that you missed an easy question.

Wow that’s a bad curve.

^Yes that’s as harsh as the math curve gets.

International curve was much more lenient. I have a friend with a -1 = 780 and another friend with a -2 = 760.
I sympathize with you guys. That’s one harsh curve.
@fignewton
Theoretically, it could be -1 = 750 (that’s the VERY least it can get) in some cases, as the BB seems to indicate. Hasn’t happened yet though.

Yeah same here =/. The sad thing is, I didn’t even expect it to happen. Confidence hurts sometimes.

Yea… I almost feel like getting it regraded. But deep down inside, I know it’s 99% likely that I added 1+1 = 3 or something…

Happened last time as well… Aww shucks.

god damn, i never knew the curve was that bad, lol now i dnt feel that bad about getting a 700 in math, but hopfully i can get a 750+ on it in October.
