You are doing great. Keep up your ECs and your difficult course load. Does your school normally have students take English Lit in 11th grade and English Lang in 12th? I’ve always heard of it being the other way around. Which SAT Math did you take? If it isn’t Math 2, you should consider taking that. Also, while your essay would probably be powerful, some colleges may find it clich

UCLA/UCB are a sure shot- you have them in the bag. Pomona and John Hopkins are a maybe, and stanford and yale are out of the question. If you would have been black you could’ve got into all of them.

Oh, I forgot accolades
18th at Scholastic State Championships for Chess
Octafinals Stanford Nat’l Invitational for Debate JV Division
Int’l Piano Playing Auditions Lvl.10

AMC score should be 105.

Thanks, Burger.
I’m actually pretty worried about my EC’s. One, I really screwed up my sophomore year (hence my less than perfect test scores), and also neglected to put much emphasis on competitions and the like.
For another, do you think my EC’s lack direction? Of course I’m a science and math person, but nothing on there shows it like that.
Finally, do you think it’s advisable to get a recommendation from a club advisor?

Chemistry: any reason why?
other than my bad numbers.

Stanford- high reach, it’s stanford
Yale- same as Stanford
UC Berkeley/UCLA- low reach
Pomona College- match
UPenn- mid to high reach, it’s an Ivy
John Hopkins- match
all other UC’s- safety
