I'm currently a senior. I was in the Fall Musical my sophomore year with a small role, and my junior year with a supporting lead. (My HS is 10-12) I safely assumed while filling out (and submitting, unfortunately) college applications that I'd make the show this year too, even if it was a small part.
After months of being encouraged by the Director HERSELF and my peers to go all out and go for the lead role, I auditioned for it, but was still openely willing to accept any role. Today the cast list was posted, and I didn't get the part. Everyone was SHOCKED. In addition: Not only did I not get the lead role, I didn't get into the show at all! Not even for a chorus part. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea why.

Do I have to call a bunch of schools now and basically say "I didn't get into the musical my senior year even though I did the previous 2 years before, so can you change my file?" or can I let it slip?

Why don’t you ask the director? There’s no harm in trying to find out what happened. I’m guessing the least she will do is give you a small part to make up for the misunderstanding.

^No. Tech Crew is a class, and I’m not in it. There’s nothing else available, unless I go talk to the director and figure out why the hell she didn’t cast me (130 people audutioned, 121 made the cast) , which I don’t intend to do. She’s hardcore and wouldnt give me a part.

There’s more to this than you’re telling us

Or:

The director made a rectifiable mistake in not casting you.

121 made the cast of 130 and you were in the musical for the last two years?! You’d be in the chorus or have a non-speaking ensemble role in every high school in the country. Either fess up to us or go to the director. No matter how “hardcore” the director is, he or she will understand the need to include an experienced senior who is willing to put in the work. My answer would be different if 60 of 130 made it. But excluding nine of 130 makes no sense unless there is something significant that would preclude a student’s participation.

I wouldn’t worry about it. I would talk to the director and at least see why you didn’t get a part… You’re a senior, you don’t need to worry about ****ing her off for next year.
