Well I screwed up. What do you think?

Hey guys, I just kind of wanted to rant a bit. Well rant isnt the right word, well atleast I hope it doesnt turn into one. Basically, I am kind of here just because I want to hear someone tell me that it’s game over. For the past year I have devoted time to studying for the ssat to get into a boarding school (L’ville mainly). I got great grades, won awards, did service and became a better person overall in my opinion. I have gained friends through diffrent services, learned a new sport and even found new passions. I got a 73% on my ssat. I know that is okay but it will not get me into a top level school even on a lucky day. So can anyone just tell me that I have a 0% chance of being accepted. It would reallly help to be told that. I think I am just tired of the constant struggle I have been having in my mind of telling myself it could happen due to being from Uzbekistan or maybe cause I am overseas they will understand but in the end I feel like that is not true. There are a whole 27% of people better than me and they are the people who desserve to go and I understand that. I would appreciate your opinion on my scenario and it’s okay if its bad, I just want an honest opinion.

Many top schools don’t exclude students with lower scores if everything else looks great.

Are you full pay?

This belongs on the Prep School forum.

What schools are you talking about?

Hey man your school doesn’t define who you are remember that. Life goes on. You said it yourself that you’ve become a better person and grown through this experience that’s the most important thing here.

Hey thanks drewharrahhill that means a lot and I appreciate the advice.

Falcon1 my top dream reach choice was L’ville and Delbarton.

But the ones I just applied to and knew there was like no chance is exeter, andover, groton and choate… but these were like the ones that would never happen ever

Yeah if that means I am not applying with financial aid then yes

Is that really true. wow i hope that happens to me but like I said I understand if there are people who have the whole deal.

You definitely do NOT have a 0% chance of being accepted. Colleges look at more than just grades, and one poor test result is not going to ruin everything. In fact, I think colleges stress ECs and essays way more than the stress grades. So just be sure to write some good essays, and you should be fine. Don’t give up!

@sscb205, OP is looking at prep schools, not colleges. OP, go put this thread in the Prep school forum- this is for university admissions (‘college’ refers to university, not secondary school in the US).

And no, being from Uzbekistan/overseas will not be the basis for rejection.

Please somebody chance me http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1853375-is-this-profile-good-for-the-top-30-schools-in-usa.html#latest

You’ll know soon enough, and you’ve done things that are good for your personal growth in the meantime. That’s all good. It’s really out of your hands. Whether you are accepted or not is about whether you are a good fit for them this year, not whether there are people who are “better”. Did you apply anywhere else? Getting in for grade 10 is harder at a lot of schools.

thanks @gardenstategal i appreciate it. I am also applying to andover, groton and delbarton

May I also remind you that if you do not get in to the schools you applied to, if you truly want Boarding school, there are many nationwide that have rolling admissions. Just because you did not get into your first choice group does. Or. Ea. There isnt a school , out there for you,
