Well, one rejection, 5 more to go.

I just got rejected from Ohio state, it makes me feel horrible because if I got rejected from them I feel like I really dont have a chance anywhere else.

Where did you apply? Stats?

I applied to osu,U of Miami,Virginia tech, james madison,UNC Chapel hill, and university of maryland. I have a 3.3. college gpa and 1110 SAT. I think the thing that killed me was my 2.8 hs gpa.

Wow...it was definitely your HS GPA that screwed you over....I have very similar stats...but my HS GPA is a lot better--3.81. I am applying to UMD and UNC as well...but am currently an Engineering Student at Virginia Tech. I made the Deans List 1st semester. I guess that Ive had really good luck with colleges...I was accepted to VT's Engineering program with only a 1120--I took the SAT in 11th grade :(. I really wish you the best of luck...its kinda surprising that you werent accepted to OSU...but its obvious that if you had to pinpoint a reason why, it would be your HS grades. I hope that you have better luck with the rest of your schools....when do you think that youll hear back from UMD?

Maybe... Anyways, good luck!

Don't feel bad. I'm sure there will be quite a few of us joining you soon, much as I hate to say it. But, try to look at the bright side. The next news you receive may be good. :)

Don't be so hard on yourself easymack! Some schools put a lot more emphasis on HS grades for transfers than others do..One of my good friends that I go to CC with found out he was accepted as a transfer at UMD last week, and his hs grades were god awful (2.3, 1110 on SAT) Haha, mine suck too, but since I graduated from hs so long ago (2000) they don't apply, I don't even have to send them in, thank god. Just have some faith in yourself, with five more schools still to make decisions, I'm sure you'll get some good news! Where are you from by the way? Keep in mind that some state schools are easier to get into out of state, while others are much harder to get into out of state.

I do not think your HS GPA held as much weight as you claim; I think it is the combination of your HS GPA, College GPA, and SAT score that contributed. If you had a 1400+, 3.6+ College GPA, I think you would have had a much higher chance.

Man I really hate it when people state the most completely obvious points...OF COURSE Virginia2004 would have had a much better chance if his/her GPA were 4.0, SAT 1600, HS GPA-4.0....its ridiculous that you would ever say something like that. Virginia2004 obviously realizes that his/her stats were weak...no need to, even further, point out her lack thereof.

Virginia2004...I wish the best of luck to you. I realize that not all of us can have astronomical stats, but we must all try the best that we most possibly can. You are trying to make your situation better by applying to wonderful schools. Keep up the good work and stay motivated :)

Where did I argue about his HS GPA? My argument was that his rejection was not predicated solely on his HS GPA, but on other factors that were not particularly stellar; therefore, if his HS GPA remained the same, but SAT and College GPA were higher, then he would have a much better chance.

Man I really hate it when people do not read.

Ok..BREATHE...Everybody just relax. We're all stressed out right now, this isn't a particularly easy time for any of us right now...I'm sure an argument isn't what Virginia2004 was aiming for when creating this thread..

Nikki422 = right
nspeds = I cant say because Nikki422 is right..just use your imagination.

And I would like to apologize to the group for my stupidity...I am an idiot..probably one of the dumbest people that you will ever meet....I am currently in the process of taking reading lessons from nspeds...because as we all know......nspeds is God.

Ohhh VT..those don't sound like make love not war words.. ;) Lets wave the white flag..it's ok..no one is god (well I mean God is God, but he's not on this board, besides this is a whole different ball of wax we're not debating) we're alllllll equal..I mean literally our gpa's are all going to be 0.0 in a matter of months..lets just let it go..remember love, not war... :)

I am afraid I must concur with VT on this issue:D (I am sure he meant it derisively, of course).

VIRGINIA2004: I'm sorry about the rejection, man. Just remember: there are more important things in life than school. I really mean that. A life that finds its definition in the name of an institution is a very unfortunate one. God bless you, man (or woman).

Wow I didnt expect to get this many replies but anyways thanks for the support, i'll be happy if even only 1 of the next 5 is an acceptance.

Keep the faith . . . we've all been there (and may go there again :| ), but, hey, we'll all come away from the process intact, too.
You did your best--(how can any more worrying help?), and it's OSU's loss. I'm confident, however, that their decision will turn into either UM's, VaTech's, JMU's, UNC's, or UMD's gain. Good luck.

Definitely hang in there... like everyone has been saying... you still have five other schools to hear from.

It's like people tell me whenever I'm stressing about this transferring process... things are going to work out.

I am in the same boat. It is especially frustrating to have mediocre stats when nearly everyone on this board has stellar stats. anyways, im applying to USC with only a 3.21 :/ as a soph. My HS record was okay...4.5 weighted gpa 1270 sat. I am trying to stay hopeful, but i honestly think i only have a 50/50 shot at best :'( good luck guys
