USCwannabe, I think a 50/50 shot is all that any of us have. Even those with high stats don't always get in. Good luck to you too!

The one good thing is that if I do have to come back to this school next semester I will have a single dorm to my self, and I can Always apply for the spring 2006 semester.

VTENGINEER18-

Why are you transferring from VT? They have a nationally ranked engineering program.

I should first say that I absolutely love Virginia Tech and am very happy and encourage those who KNOW that they want to do Engineering, Architecture, Agriculture.....ect..to strongly consider Tech. Throughout this year, I have been trying to figure out if I really enjoy engineering....after taking 1st year engineering classes that cover a broad spectrum of different concentrations of engineering, I have decided that I would rather go into business undergrad and possibly Law school afterward. Virginia Tech's Pamplin School of Business is definitely up and coming..its becoming tougher and tougher to get into and its tie to Banks in North Carolina is traditionally strong. However, I decided to apply to schools where I would receive a well-rounded education rather than concentrated...not to say that a concentrated education is bad...but you must KNOW that you want study Tech related fields. Because of this, I applied to other "Big Schools" such as UMD-College Park and UNC-Chapel Hill...whose Business schools are fenominal and whose University curriculum provides a well rounded education. But I must continue to defend Virginia Tech...Engineering, Architecture, Industrial Design here are amazing and are AMONG the top...I really think that they will be TOP ranked programs in the future...The campus and social life are awesome. If I do infact transfer, I will miss this school a LOT :(..I heart VT

Be strong buddy, afterall I am probably only one month away from hearing mine.

Tell us more about the social life at VT and the business program if you know anyone in it. Any info on the Corps of Cadets?

If one intends on doing business and law, you can do a joint (LLB?) Business-Law program at Law School, though it is significantly harder than getting a JD. I am not sure which schools offer the program, but I am certain that Harvard is one of them.

Edit: And if you are planning on applying to a Top 5, engineering will work as an incredible hook and will help you incrementally in comparison to the plethora of Political Science, Pre-Law, and History Major applicants.

Social Life at VT is great...there are parties whenever you want to find one, the students are very friendly and helpful, and the campus is relatively diverse in its political and religious beliefs. The Business program is no Wharton--UPenn but it is up and coming and is even strong currently. I have a friend that is in the Business program and he works pretty hard during the week, while still having a chance to enjoy the college experience. Because of his status as a student in Pamplin, many interships have been open to him--with VT comes a strong reputation. I am not in the Corp of Cadets but I have a lot of respect for those who are--VT is one of the two schools in the US that has a separation between Civilian and Cadet life...Texas A&M being the other. I would definitely say that if you were interested in being in the ROTC, that you will sacrifice a LOT of free time and social experiences...however, you do have the chance to be a part of the "brotherhood" at Tech...The Cadets are WELL respected here...there are a lot of ceremonies and even memorials on campus that are related to them. VT is an awesome school...its future looks even brighter--I really think that this school will get even better.

not to put a damper on anything...but I wouldnt blame getting rejected from OSU on your HS gpa. I was accepted as a firt-year student w/a 2.75 HS gpa (but I think my SAT might've been what got me in).

I'd say you'll get in to atleast 2/5 choices so don't lose hope

Blacksburg is the most boring town ever....if your opinion of a social life is based solely on partying....then you'll have one hell of a social life.......but other than that there isn't really much to do in the town....although the student population is diverse and 95% of my professors have been awsome...i hate southwest virginia....BUT...no clubs, MAD bars, very little shopping...unless you love hokie apparel

VIRGINIA2004

If you have not gotten an exceptance letter from Va Tech then you have missed the waive of all acceptances that were sent out at the end of March. My friends and I have all gotten our exceptance letters from Va Tech. I got mine on March 25. Good luck though with your other schools. If i can tell you one positive, it is that i got into Tech with 3.3 GPA from college however i have a 3.27 in High School.

Good Luck!!

Oh no! I haven't received anything from Tech either, except a financial aid email. My parents have been away on vacation this week, so no mail, but if they sent out all acceptances the end of March, it looks like I didn't get in. :(

And I had a 3.5 HS gpa and 3.65 in college. :( :( :(

Katt i think it has a lot to do with what school that you are applying to. I applied to the Agriculture and life science school majoring in Environmental Science. Katt you have just missed the first waive of exceptances, they will send out more except they will also send out rejections this time around to.

wait Katt you have a 3.5 highschool and 3.65 college? and you're worrying about tech!?!?
calm down!!! you have a VERY good chance at getting accepted!....1. it's alot easier to get accepted as a transfer 2. i got in with a 3.6 in highschool and a 1150 on my SATs...i brought em up in december just for UVa!

My Mom just called me to let me know I was accepted at Tech. She said the envelope was dated 4/1 in case anyone is interested.

I still havent gotten anything from tech but I havent talked to my parents to see if anything came in the mail either. I got another thing though, I got this e-mail from someone at the University of Miami that said that she reviewed my college transcript on Friday and that my spring grades will be needed before my application can be sent to the admission committee, and to send as soon as they are available. Is this good? Bad? Does this mean im in if I do good this semester? Because if I was a definite reject wouldnt I just get a rejection now instead of them wanting my spring grades?

Ask your parents, VIRGINIA2004. If your parents are in Virginia, they probably should have received something by now.

I think it's a good sign that Miami is asking for your spring grades. If your grades are as good (if they are) or better than last semester, I would think you would probably get an acceptance. The downside is that you have to wait even longer now.
