Whitlock, it is certainly easier to say this then do it, but take a deep breath and please don’t panic. I have been there and it is not easy, my son had weird episodes that needed to be ruled out by a cardiologist/pulmonologist when he was younger. He was a competitive swimmer at the time. Everything turned out fine.
Let us know how everything goes on Tuesday. My prayers and best wishes are with you.

All our best all y’all, with aloha.

You’ll be in our prayers, too, whitlo.

Two of our Ds had scary episodes related to dehydration. Being heath conscious, we had trained our girls to avoid the salt. After being referred to a pediatric cardiologist at a major Atlanta pediatric hospital, we were advised not to restrict salt intake with teens and to offer either a sports drink or water with added electrolytes to both kids each day and to encourage them to drink half of their body weight in ounces of fluid per day. Of course, this advice was given after careful examination and thorough testing by the cardiologist and is not meant to replace the advice of anyone’s personal physician.

Spent spring break in the ER with S and apts with cardiologists, cardio surgeons & dopplers, CAT scans & multiple X-rays so I can imagine how concerned you are. I’ve never seen my H so unnerved. It turned out to be minor for S, thank goodness.
Hoping you receive the same news.

Prayers for this young man and your child Whitlo. Please keep us posted. Thank goodness there is more awareness of cardiac problems in athletes. Hopefully, it will lead to improved care in an emergency! I think it already has.

Thanks for the good wishes, prayers, and encouraging stories. Not quite sure how I’m going to keep our driven and obsessive triathlete from running or biking until Tuesday – guess there will be a lot of shopping, baking, crafting, movie watching, and maybe a mani/pedi! Or I’ll just tie her to a chair. Hope we will have good news by Tuesday afternoon. Even more than ever, we are so glad to be a part of the Bama family.

On one doctor’s consult we had a specialist tell our son that he needed more salt (sodium) as well.

lattelady: So glad to hear the outcome of the surgery went so well!

WhitLo: Prayers are with you and your family!
