<p>If you’re well rounded in extracurriculars/essays/recs, you better have killer stats.
If you have a passion, remember that your passion shouldn’t cause you be be SUBPAR at anything… it’s balancing a superior talent with good results in other fields as well.

<p>I stand firmly by the egg thing, though. A lot of people seem to think that it’s okay for them to be bad at certain subjects if they’re amazing at others (the old english versus math debate.) But that’s not true, at least not when you’re looking at top colleges. You can’t be bad at anything; being an egg means being good at everything but OUTSTANDING at one thing in particular. Egg-ness is not an excuse for poor performance. Then you’re not an egg any more, you’re a lollipop. And lollipops give people cavities (though they can occasionally be tasty.)</p>
<p>So you jus thave to be unique or outstanding in one particular area and pretty good at the rest? Is that what you are getting at?</p>
