Wellesley '10ers

<p>Hey, so I'm 90% sure I'll be a Wellesley woman come fall, and I thought we should start a thread so all of us who are planning to attend, or at least seriously considering it, can get to know each other. I'll start....</p>

<p>Location: Thompson, CT
Probable major: Philosophy
Favorite book: A tie between "Sophie's World" and "The Bell Jar"
Most likely to be found listening to: Ben Folds
Would most like to visit: London
Why Wellesley?: The academics, the campus, the sisterhood, Boston, the diversity....on and on</p>

<p>Location: New Jersey
Probable major: Very undecided-- I used to want to double major in political science/philosophy, and I still do enjoy both of those things to a great extent, but I just don't know yet.
Favorite book: Franny & Zooey -JD Salinger
Most likely to be found listening to: lately I've been really into Feist, The Sounds, Death From Above 1979, & Jenny Lewis With the Watson Twins
Would most like to visit: Rome and Tokyo
Why Wellesley?: it's a very lovely little school with great academics and a nice strong tradition of political activism. It's not a party school, and I am certainly not a party person. Oh, and: "The mission of Wellesley College is to provide an excellent liberal arts education for women who will make a difference in the world." Yep.</p>

Probable major: English Literature/Art History
Favorite book: The Picture of Dorian Gray by Oscar Wilde
Most likely to be found listening to: Strays Don't Sleep, Stars, Death Cab, Mirah
Would most like to visit: Rome or London
Why Wellesley?: Amazing academics, location and the overall feel of the campus... ::sighs happily::</p>

<p>Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Probable major: I'm unsure, but I hope to double major in Chemistry and Psychology.
Favorite book: I've so many! Some include Catcher in the Rye, Gods Bits of Wood, Memoirs of a Geisha, The Dark Child, and 1984.
Most likely to be found listening to: Rock (Linkin Park, P.O.D., Switchfoot, Coldplay, Lifehouse, Incubus) and hip-hop.
Would most like to visit: Greece (I lived there for 4 years and absolutely adore the islands). I love traveling though, so it's hard to pick a favorite.
Why Wellesley?: Because it's the best woman's college in the States (I feel), and has the sort of close-knit community I seek, along with the perfect blend of academic rigor, intimate student-teacher interaction, and social life. Another factor may be my rejection from Yale (after being deferred) :p...Oh, and of course, because Mona Lisa Smile was shot there!</p>

Probable major: Biology/Neuroscience
Favorite book: The Count of Monte Cristo, A Separate Peace,The Awakening, my AP Biology text (haha)
Most likely to be found listening to: Switchfoot, Frank Sinatra, Michelle Branch, Linkin Park, Jack Johnson, Kelly Clarkson, Ciara, quite eclectic I know!
Would most like to visit: England! I think British accents are incredibly sexy :-)
Why Wellesley?: Great liberal arts college near Boston; great undergraduate teaching; tight and cohesive community; networking; Mona Lisa Smile; intelligent and motivated classmates; diversity</p>

Probable major: International relations
Favorite book: hmm... probably The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath
Most likely to be found listening to: Cheek, the Ramones, Bob Dylan, Darude, Daddy Yankee, Tchiakovsky
Would most like to visit: RUSSIA!!! and Estonia
Why Wellesley?: great education, alumnae network, tight community, awesome classmates, amazing campus (when I think of "college" Wellesley is the picture my mind recalls)</p>

<p>Location: Istanbul, Turkey.
Probable major: double major in English and Cinema and Media Studies.
Favorite books: The Mandarins, The Fountainhead, The Hours, A Streetcar Named Desire.
Most likely to be found listening to: The Cure, The Ramones, The Killers, The Beatles, The Doors, Led Zeppelin.
Would most like to visit: London.
Why Wellesley? academics, faculty, campus, the courses offered.</p>

<p>By the way, I think we should add our favorite movies as well.</p>

<p>Favorite movies: Lost in Translation, Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, The Hours, Hair.</p>

<p>In addition to what I said earlier, my favorite movies: Brokeback Mountain, Forrest Gump, The Notebook, A Walk to Remember, Bride and Prejudice, Ten Things I Hate About You, Clueless, Mean Girls, Shrek (1 & 2), and White Chicks. I'm a movie buff. :)</p>

Probable major: Not sure but planning to pursue pre-med
Favorite book: Harry Potter (lol)
Most likely to be found listening to: Kelly Clarkson, Avril Lavigne, and Japanese pop musics
Would most like to visit: London and Paris
Why Wellesley?: Diversity, gorgeous campus, great education, friendly and smart students</p>

Probable major: Doubling in Biology and Chinese
Favorite book: The Life of Pi, Battle Royale
Most likely to be found listening to: Korean/Chinese/Japanese Pop, Smashing Pumpkins, Saves the Day, Dream Theater, and catchy 90's one-hit-wonders.
Would most like to visit: Venice, Seoul, Tokyo, Shanghai
Why Wellesley?: Chinese dept, education, location, campus.
Favorite movies: Shinobi, My Sassy Girl, Casshern, The Classic, Sympathy for Lady Vengeance/Mr. Vengeance/Old Boy, Crash, Spirited Away.</p>

<p>You guys already sound like you're close! I really want to be accepted. I'm going to call tomorrow and find out since I haven't received any decisions yet. (By the way, I love korea movies. Maybe because I'm Korean TEEHeE)</p>

<p>Haha..Yes! Korean movie fest at Wellesley! I want to watch My Sassy Girl and Windstruck back to back..or ...ing and My Little Bride <3..Haha..Guiyeoni's adapted movies are good too..though her fanfictions are better..A Wolf's Temptation and He Was Cool. I'm definitely bringing my external HD! Gosh..my roomie next year will have to put up with all this T__T;;</p>

on weeknights, we will cry our eyes out, dreaming of our sappy dates..
