Dear Tabitha,

Congratulations! The Board of Admission has voted to admit you to the Wellesley College Class of 2014. We were impressed with your outstanding academic record and your contributions to your high school and community. Wellesley had an exceptional group of Early Decision applicants and you are among the select group of students admitted. The Early Decision pool was highly competitive this year and you deserve special recognition for distinguishing yourself in such an accomplished group.

Please note that this is an early notification of your decision. An official letter is being sent by mail.

If you submitted an application for financial aid, information regarding your award will be included in your packet. Enclosed with your letter you will find a reply envelope which you must return along with your $300 non-refundable deposit no later than January 5, 2010. If you do not receive your decision letter by December 18, please contact us by telephone at 781-283-2270.

Once you receive your admission packet, we expect you to abide by the Early Decision Commitment you signed with your parent or guardian and your guidance counselor and to withdraw any applications you may have submitted to other colleges or universities. In addition, your admission to Wellesley is contingent upon the successful completion of your senior year in the academic program you presented for review. Let me suggest that you use this time as a senior to rededicate yourself to your studies and the intellectual life of your school.

Once again, congratulations on your early acceptance to Wellesley College. Please feel free to contact us if you or your parents have any questions during the next few months.

Sincerely,

Thanks To everyone!

Dear Kelly,

The Board of Admission has completed its Early Decision deliberations and I regret that we cannot offer you a place in the Class of 2014. This is one of the most difficult letters we have to write. Wellesley had an exceptional group of applicants this fall and the selection process was extremely competitive.

I realize this must be disappointing news for you, especially because Wellesley has been your first choice. Our aim is to be as realistic as possible with this decision. In reviewing your credentials, we recognized your many accomplishments and talents, but the Board felt other candidates had to come first. Since the Early Decision round was so strong and we expect an equally competitive round for Regular Decision, it seems only fair to let you know now that you would not be admitted in April. We hope that you will use this opportunity to work closely with your high school counselor as you prepare your other college applications.

Please note that this is an early notification of our final decision. An official letter is being sent by mail. We appreciate your interest in Wellesley and we wish you well as you pursue your college education.

Sincerely,
