What were the updates that people received? I checked D’s portal and there is no new information as of this morning.
No email here. What did it say?
just asking if I had checked the portal lately. maybe people only got it who applied for financial aid…
@ all current year EE Applicants
Just an FYI… from our experience from last year’s EE…
The Portal information is not current most of the time. If you find some of your information is listed as missing do not worry, call and talk to admissions. For some reason the portal is inaccurate most of the time.
Financial aid information comes only after the admission letter has been sent.
…Remember the Portal pages some times freezes and will not load. You may have to wait for a day or so… so frustrating and nerve racking…
Almost there… best wishes to all, hope all of you get in…
My D got the email and we did not apply for FA. She did send in her midyear reports last week so maybe that has something to do with it? She said it sounded pretty generic and read little into it.
Same, I got the email but I didn’t apply for FA. It’s probably just a generic email Wellesley sends to all EE applicants.
My daughter did the overnight stay back in October and did an alumni interview. I sent out our 2014 tax documents this weekend so now we just wait. There is a great site called applymap. It says she has a 48.5 % chance of acceptance. Wellesley is her first or second choice and all her friends around her in class rank already got accepted to ivies early decision so she will be crushed if she doesn’t get a “likely” response. I think Wellesley’s admission rate is deceptive. It doesn’t seem that exclusive but I bet you anyone who applies to Wellesley in the first place didn’t spend their high school years goofing off. But if your the kind of person to be on CC at all your probably going to get that “likely”. Good luck
@rainbowtrout
…Wellesley’s admission rate is deceptive. It doesn’t seem that exclusive …
I agree with you on this. In my personal opinion, Wellesley’s rate of admission will drop to under 10% “IF” Wellesley was a Co-Ed. The applicant pool [numbers may very well be in the 10’s of thousands] will be much higher for the 800 +seats of incoming First Years [Note, not Freshmen… ], then the acceptance rate will drop. Once the acceptance rate drops then it is a snow ball effect, then more and more high stat kids will apply making it more and more elite.
Wellesley being a Women’s college self selects the applicant pool even before they apply to the college. A lot of young women are skeptical applying to a Women’s college and would rather be in a Co-ed college.
So a 35% acceptance rate is deceptive. I should also say Wellesley does not go by just the numbers as in SAT/ACT stats only. Each year several high Stat kids are wait listed or turned down. I think they do look for a complete and/or unique applicant.
hey everyone! I’m applying EE too. Wellesley is definitely up there for me. I wish you all the best of luck!
Yeah i got that and totally freaked out thinking they posted something haha
did everyone get their midyear reports in? they are required and due feb 12th, our credentials will be reviewed only after that is submitted. if we get them in asap, maybe they will come to their decisions early, thus minimizing the waiting period.
@rach131 Yeah I got my midyear report in but lol I doubt they’ll release decisions sooner even if everyone turns in their midyear early. Only a couple more weeks left of waiting!
Oh and as a sidenote I watched the Mona Lisa Smile yesterday-- great movie. It takes place at Wellesley during the 1950s, if that’s any incentive for you to watch it! It’s intriguing to see how much Wellesley has evolved from a “wife in training” school to an institution that prides itself on producing strong, empowered graduates. I HIGHLY recommend watching it.
@Ambitious19 I saw it too! It’s amazing. Although I definitely think you could see some girl’s empowerment through the “wife in training” philosophy
I’m anxious about EE, but I’m also excited just to get an admission notification (oh the woes of RD). Mona Lisa Smile is such a good movie! I know Wellesley is nothing like that today as an institution, but the type of women Wellesley attracts – strong, determined, and independent – hasn’t changed over the decades. I wasn’t able to visit or do an interview for Wellesley because I don’t have the means to travel and live in the rural southeast. I don’t think they penalize you too much for that because there are people like me for which displaying that kind of interest is out of reach. Anyone else sweating bullets about the grade deflation policy?
@rainyears @Sheetifers Yes definitely- the women attending Wellesley have always been inquisitive and strong-willed!
If I were even lucky enough to attend Wellesley, I wouldn’t worry too much about the grade deflation, as I won’t be applying to medical or law school. But I see how it could be a concern for those who are considering grad school
Another EE applicant here! Only 13 days left…I’m so excited!
Hey guys! Another EE applicant here too. I’m so nervous for the evaluations to come out! I have a countdown going… only 10 days and 21 hours left! When I visited Wellesley, I absolutely fell in love. I would be thrilled to go there!
I have a countdown going, too! It makes me so nervous every time I unlock my phone!
Hey guyss.
I’m an Asian EE applicant. I’m so nervous. I really hope I get a likely. Wellesley is my dream college.
if one gets a likely (and keeps up their grades obviously) are they 100 percent guaranteed an acceptance in March? Just curious.
And do they ever accept any unlikelies or is that the death sentence?
