Hi everyone! In lieu of a decision date finally coming out, I thought I would start an ED thread for us all to talk/vent/cry/etc while we’re waiting to hear back. It’s three weeks today! Good luck to everyone.
Hey @pchs17, thanks for starting this thread! I went to Discover Wellesley Weekend and felt so connected to Wellesley. What major did you apply as?
Hey everyone I’m just giving you an early heads up that if you’re deferred, it’s not the end of the world! The people last year were talking about it like the “biggest failure of their lives” but I still got in! Have faith.
@misschoding Haha I applied as undecided! I’ve been toward economics for the past few months but honestly it’s so likely that I’m going to change my mind that I didn’t see the point in even putting it down. @Astrofeline Thanks that’s really comforting. I’ve tried not to get too hung up on the idea of a ‘dream school’ so I don’t think I’ll be too terribly crushed because I’m sure I’ll end up fine wherever I go as long as I take advantage of the resources I have and work hard. Wellesley is #1 though
Hello future sibs!! As a former Wellesley ED-er who deeply remembers the panic of admissions, just know that I’m behind you all and I hope you all get to go to colleges you adore (or go for a gap year! That is also completely fine and a wonderful experience!), whether that ends up being Wellesley or not. Good luck!
@misschoding I went to Discover Wellesley Weekend too and LOVED it. @pchs17 thanks for starting this thread I’m so excited (and terribly nervous) for December 10th…
Ahh I emailed one of the Wellesley violin teachers a few days ago asking about music opportunities and she just replied and said that she reviewed my music supplement and she “really enjoys my playing a lot” :D. Just spent a solid 10 minutes running around my house screaming and crying and felt like I had to share my joy cuz low key freaking out right now. Did anybody else submit arts supplement/is anybody else musically involved? I play the violin.
Thanks everyone for the encouragement!
I love how Wellesley tells us exactly when to check our portals for admission decisions. Most of my friends who did ED just know that the decisions will be up by Dec 15th.
@eapndme I had applied ED to Wellesley before going to Discover Wellesley Weekend, but staying overnight made me feel even more confident about my choice.
@pchs17 Im not musically involved. But Im so happy for you!
I really wish I could see all of you guys at Wellesley!
@misschoding @eapndme What majors are you guys interested in?
@pchs17 I applied as a math major. Im hoping to minor in education as well but Im open to many other choices!
@misschoding Let me know if you have any questions about education careers after Wellesley! I went into teaching, and we have a pretty active group of alumnae teachers.
@WendyWellesley That sounds great! Thank you
@pchs17 @misschoding I applied as a math major too! Looking to pick up a minor in maybe computer sci or economics, but I know things will probably end up changing… Also I play the French horn. Didn’t submit an arts supplement because I don’t think I was prepared to, but if I’m accepted I’ll definitely look into playing at Wellesley
@eapndme Oh thats cool! I used to play the flute actually and considered taking band but my schedule was too full.
I would love to take language classes all four years at Wellesley. I really like my Chinese class at school so I would like to continue learning Chinese (and study abroad in China), but I also want to learn a new language. What about you guys?
@misschoding I’m currently taking a Spanish course through a community college near my school. I’d love to continue Spanish in college, but I don’t think I could study abroad for an extended period of time (too much of a homebody!)… I know Wellesley offers international study during winter session sometimes, so that’s something I think I would take advantage of
@eapndme Yeah, it sounds pretty interesting. Wellesley offers so many opportunities and they sound so good… I feel compelled to take all of them.
What did you guys write your why wellesleys about? Mine was about the Albright institute and the Ruhlman Conference :). I talked about how I went to a computer programming club meeting the beginning of this year and I was the only girl there so I never went back, but at Wellesley that would never happen. I don’t think it turned out too great but I feel like it was a good idea (hopefully?).
@pchs17 that sounds really good! I wrote mine on residence halls and the environment within, and drew on my experiences at Discover Wellesley Weekend. I live in a small town, so I tried to relate the two as very close-knit communities. I also wrote about the curriculum, but I wasn’t as attached to that paragraph. I’m just worried the items I chose were a little too vague, though.
@pchs17 I wrote about the 24-Hour Shakes and the liberal arts and sciences. I also mentioned my experiences at Discover Wellesley Weekend. I really hope my personality and fit show well in the essay.
If you guys dont mind me asking, what are your stats and what state are you guys from?
