Wellesley Class of 2020 ED Thread

@misschoding ooh that sounds really cute and original! It sounds like it would really let you show off your personality. I’m from Missouri, my uw gpa is 3.76 (low I know…), my act is 33 (33 english, 34 math, 33 reading, 32 science, 29 writing) and I got a 710 on the Spanish sat II test that I took. My school doesn’t rank

I’m from NY (upstate, not the city), my gpa weighted is a 103.47, which is a 4.0 I’m guessing
SAT: 800CR 710M 700W
Subject tests: 760 lit 700 chem 670 (eek) math 2s
1/105… Small public school so not as impressive I think

And what kind of ec’s do you all do? My school doesn’t offer too much, so I’ve done mostly music and soccer related activities throughout high school, with some random stuff sprinkled in (SHS, crew for drama). Hoping my ec’s will look okay because I do have a few leadership positions, but I really want to try new activities in college.

You guys both have good stats!

My SAT is 2200 superscored, with 800 math, 800 writing, but 600 reading… :frowning: 720 on Biology and 780 on Math 2.

My weighted GPA is a 4.4. My school doesnt give unweighted GPAs and I dont know what my rank is either.

And Im from NJ.

Outside of school, I volunteer at a different school and tutor and do clubs that help people out. I hold a leadership position in a club as well. A lot of my ECs are community service based, so I hope Wellesley sees my interest in teaching.

Just 8 more days left!

@misschoding I think your stats are killer! And ugh, I’ve been counting down the days… They’re dragging!! I tutor too, but only in trigonometry. I only can teach when it’s math  I think it’s so weird that math is probably one of my best subjects in school but I didn’t do that well on the subject test… Guess I just wasn’t feeling it that day!

@eapndme I went through the majority of my high school career thinking I was going to go pursue a music career and then changed my mind at the last minute, so most of my ECs are music related. I’m in my city’s youth orchestra, I’m in this really intensive chamber music program, I practice ~20 hours a week, I’ve done a ton of teaching (paid and for free), all state orchestra, etc. Because I was super involved in music I didn’t take all the super hard classes at my school, which kind of makes me nervous. Hopefully they’ll see how involved I was in music and overlook it! I also do a bunch of other community service so hopefully that’ll help! @misschoding ugh I’m so nervous! Can’t come soon enough >.<

@eapndme Thank you, but I’m so worried about my 600 in reading. It’s okay, you did well on the other subject tests! Your rank is so good too.

@pchs17 I’m actually in a similar case too. It wasn’t until the end of junior year that I thought of majoring in math. I’ve always imagined myself teaching elementary students, so most of my ECs are elementary teaching related. Now, I’m combining my love for teaching and mathematics-- I’d love to be a math teacher, but I’m open to other choices too.

I can picture myself having a really hard time logging on the portal at 5pm next Thursday. I was countdowning the days too, but I stopped, lol. I have a big test the day after the decisions come out, so I don’t know how I would prepare for that.

Hi guys!!! I’m super nervous. Like super super nervous. I have a 34 ACT, 3.77 GPA and legacy. I hope that is good enough. Wellesley is my dream school

@poorstressedgirl hi! Hope you’re less stressed than your name implies  did any of you do interviews?

Yep! I’m from Chicago so I did an interview with an alum. I think it went well. Does anyone know the ED acceptance rate?
Are my stats good enough?

According to collegedata .com, the early decision acceptance rate was 36% which (thankfully) is significantly higher than the RD acceptance rate.
As for stats, I think we are all asking ourselves that same question!

@poorstressedgirl awww, dont be too stressed! I know it is easier said than done, but there isnt much we can do at this point but hope for the best.

And according to Collegeboard, 147/354 were accepted ED. That is around 41.5%.

You guys are all so sweet! What are your back up schools?

@poorstressedgirl Northeastern, NYU, BC, and TCNJ are probably my match/safety schools/ backups at this point, although I think I should apply to one or two more. How about you?

Northeastern, Fordham, Tufts, Williams and Wesleyan are all on my list

But I guess some of those don’t really qualify as backups :-S

@eapndme Did you apply EA to Northeastern?

@misschoding no actually… I sort of wish I did! it’s probably my second choice school. Did you?
