Wellesley Class of 2020 RD Discussion

Hey everyone! I decided to make a thread where all us RD applicants (and ED if you’re feeling it) can talk and support each other through this trying time of college applications.

I just submitted my app today so I’m excited; I watched the entire Wellesley playlist on yt in a sitting.

Hey! I applied early evaluation.
Woo Wellesley!

@AddyB123 I also applied to Wellesley EE! I’ve been checking the portal everyday to see what’s gotten in and what hasn’t because I hate playing the waiting game. How patient are you guys?

I wish I could’ve applied EE… My fourth recommendation letter didn’t get finished until the 4th (even tho my teacher said he could get it done by the 1st). Oh well though, not like it changes my chances.
Anyways, just submitted today! Fingers crossed.

@stellacastor I feel like you should’ve still been able to apply EE. Wellesley only asks for two letters and I think that recommendation letters can come in later, it’s just your part of the application has to be in by the 1st.

@ellesea I had no idea that recommendation letters could come in later… I thought everything had to be all in on January 1st D:

@stellacastor :frowning: I’m sorry

Good luck everybody!

@stellacastor I’m sorry about that, but what’s done is done I suppose. We’ll be in the same boat for RD though! Plus EE isn’t much info sometimes.

What is everyone planning to study? I am interested in art history and chemistry.

@mollikinz Those are two pretty different majors! That’s cool that you have varied interests, though.
I’m personally looking into Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies.

@mollikinz I’m looking into International Relations and Environmental Science :slight_smile:

@stellacastor Yeah, they’re two different things but surprisingly they intersect in some areas. :slight_smile:

A question to both stellacastor and to @ellesea as well – how did you first get interested in the fields you want to study?

Personally, I’ve always loved art and history so it seemed natural to blend the two together. I really enjoyed taking art history class a few years ago while everyone was asleep during the lectures lol. Chemistry was more of a recent interest.
I’m more intrigued by art conservation which is basically the intersection of chemistry and art history but it’s a rare program to find for undergrads.

@mollikinz Oh, art conservation! That seems so cool, I hope you’re able to get into that field.

I personally was led to Psych and Women’s Studies because I want to be a therapist or counselor - particularly one who’d work with LGBT youth, which is where the Women’s Studies comes in (LGBT issues are generally covered in that major somewhat).

Hey everyone! I applied to Wellesley EE and the wait is killing me! I applied with Philosophy and Economics as my prospective majors. I know I definitely want to study Philosophy, and likely double major, double major/minor, or major double minor. Considering Religious Studies, Econ, Art History, Women’s Studies, and Poli Sci. Look forward to getting to know you all!

I applied RD as an Economics major. I am also really interested in Biology, PoliSci, EnvSci, an International Studies !! I’ve heard so many great things about Wellesley; hopefully we will all be getting good news in a couple of months :slight_smile:

@mollikinz Late answer, but here it is anyway! I got interested in International Relations in 10th grade when I realized I didn’t know what I wanted to do in college, but I knew that I loved to travel. So I started Googling “jobs that allow you to travel a lot” and then after sifting through things like ‘pilot’, ‘flight attendant’, and ‘English teacher’ I came across ‘diplomat’. So I started doing research about what being a diplomat is and I discovered the State Department and Foreign Service Officers. I fell in love and did research on what I could major in that taught about the things FSO’s did in real life and I found International Relations. Environmental Science really solidified this year in my APES class (I have a love-hate relationship with it) and my other interest, Women’s and Gender Studies, came about because I’m a feminist and interested in learning more about women and their histories :slight_smile:

My Wellesley supplement is exactly 420 words #itslit

@emilyskates Oh my Gosh, amazing.

Hi all! I applied EE as well! Looking to major with a linguistics concentration within the cog sci & ling department. You all sound so accomplished. I know everyone will end up somewhere they’re happy.
And now…we wait…

I lowkey haven’t started my supplement but its k it’ll happen. planning on doing biology and East Asian studies!
